ParticipantSofia, I've not seen “Death Dreams” yet, but it sounds like the dialogue was fairly compatible with the scene you excerpted from the novel. Well done. 🙂

ParticipantMost kind, Ananta. And thanks for the kind words at YouTube.
And yes, more is on the way. 🙂

ParticipantNicely done. That would've been another endearing scene for Rags and Chris.

ParticipantIn regard to the question whether or not Regan remembered the events that had occurred when she was possessed, another possibility is the notion that such things were so terrible that her body, once released, subconsciously repressed those memories. If we do not take into account “Exorcist II” then we could assume she either was still under the effects of hypnosis, or she was in suppression of memory as a result of post-traumatic stress.

ParticipantThat was a nice usage of Marg's and Taylor's voices in that scene. I had wondered where that had come from. Well done. 🙂

ParticipantI do believe that a scene like that would've really endeared folks even more to Chris and Rags than they already were. Regan, so innocent, sweet, and beautiful, and Chris, rather devout in her atheism, but not so much that she would force her daughter to make the same choice.
I think a scene like that (the Washington trip scene, where Chris gives Regan the answer about “God getting lonely for us after a while”) was just a part of her actually looking for something to truly believe in, above and beyond herself…and not realizing that very soon, she would get her wish…despite the horror she'd have to endure to get it.

ParticipantI checked out your Washing Trip excerpt. Very sweetly done. :) Nice!

ParticipantMost kinda again, Sofia. :) I'll be happy to help with the demon voice work when you get around to that. Or, if what I've done in the excerpt is good enough, feel free to sample from that.
Â
I do plan on doing other scenes. I was going to do the spiderwalk scene, and am still going to…I just have to get really convincing female voices. I have software that will allow me to make my voice sound like a woman's/girl's…but it'll take some tweaking. 🙂

Hi, Steve!
It's amazing! How did you manage to do the demon's voice? it sounds so creepy!
BTW, do you have the audio tapes of Blatty reading the novel? He makes one powerful, creepy demon as well!  Â
Most kind, Sofia, thank you. 🙂
I didn't do anything special to my voice (except at the very end when the demon is speaking backwards…the last second and a half I applied some reverb and echo effect).  Otherwise, I just spoke and lowered my vocal tone and made it as gravelly and sinister as I could. Father Karras was hard to impersonate because his New York accent is so subtle, so I thought, well, I'll just run with my regular voice, and hope I do a good job.
I heard Mr. Blatty reading an excerpt from his book in a documentary, but I've never heard his take on the demon. 🙂

ParticipantRIP, Mr. Nielsen. You will be missed.

ParticipantMost kind. Thank you both. 🙂
Yes, I do plan to do more…..I'm going to do the spiderwalk scene at some point.
I'm glad this seems to have gone over so well. (And thank Sofia for the inspiration. :) )

ParticipantHi, Sofia,
Â
I was able to reconstruct Regan's room rather quickly, so I'm back on track.
Â
I'll be using my own voice for both the demon and Fr. Karras. (I think I do a much better demon than I can Karras).
Because I kinda skipped over one part (quite by accident), I had to take a slight turn in part of the scene to accommodate a certain part….but it's minor.
Â
I hadn't done the Sofia and Sachi Chris and Regan yet, but I will. :)Â

Â
Ha ha…that's really cute, and certainly unique.

ParticipantSome people might not be able to “unsee” if their first exposure was to the enhanced versions of The Exorcist. However, there is some comfort (for those who despise the newer versions) that some folks who were first exposed to TVYNS might not have a nostalgic grip on it, and when they A/B it with the original cut, they can look and say: “Ya' know, I like the original cut better.” (Meant they were paying attention to the story. )Â
