Jen: What kind of naive world do you live in? Were you around 30-years ago? Children knew about sex back then too! You are too easily buying into this bullshit we are constantly being sold about the puritanism of children that is nothing but a load of garbage.

As for her religious beliefs, does she not wear a cross around her neck, which could be a clue. Let me know I really can’t remember off hand.

The difference between Supernatural Science and other shows I’ve seen on the shroud is that it didn’t go in with the assumption the shroud was real. Just about ever show tries to glamorize it by emphasizing every detail that they think will make it look like a miracle no matter how silly and often make the unproven assumption that it could not be done with techniques of the times.

Supernatural Science however was the only show I’ve seen that went at the thing with a logical scientific approach and asked some good questions that I have wondered myself but were ignored by other documentaries. For example, why is the image flat? If you cover a model in paint and wrap it in a shroud the way people claim the shroud was “photographically” taken and then open it, you will see the paint image is stretched like you’d expect rather than being like a photograph taken at a distance. Furthermore it looked to them like the shroud was simply painted, and then folded in half to create a symmetrical image. I thought the the show was very good, although insulting to the intelligence of true shroud believers.

Have you ever seen a show on TV called Supernatural Science. They did an episode where they duplicated the Shroud of Turin almost exactly with techniques that existed in medieval Europe.

Thanks Sofia. Just out of curiosity, which line does the demon use when he repeats it back?

I’m with you there Fadda. Dubbed or not any 14yo would figure out what was happening I don’t care what decade it was. I mean didn’t she read the script? LMAO. She knew what it was but was probably pressured into “believing” she didn’t to draw away negative attention towards having a young person in this “pornographic” scene. The presence of this scene in the Exorcist has always fascinated me. I mean even then there were Kiddie Porn laws on the books and its pretty hard to believe that radical US Christians that in some states prosecute people for up to 30 years in jail for a mere six non-sexual nudes of children could stand for what Linda did in this role!

Are phantom smells only sensed by the person being possessed or everyone? It could be tangible evidence of “supernatural” but only if its smelled by more than one witness. Also, smells are caused by chemicals in the air called esters. If the smell was of something real an air sample could had been collected and analysed to determine the source of the odour.

LOL. No need to be behind the camera in this case. Once the shot is setup its done. Nothing much can cause such a large camera to move or wobble unintentionally.

Why am I starting to think more and more that reading the book was intended as a prerequisite to see the film?

Very good demonstration of how far consumer grade computer animation has come. Its getting to the point where anyone can create an image that leaves one wondering whether or not its real.
