Value is always iffy. If you bought it from a seller on eBay versus, let’s say, Southeby’s, the value will vary incredibly. Ebay has often had unscrupulous sellers that make reprints and, because posters lack a COA oftentimes, you could be stuck with something that’s worthless because it hasn’t been valued by an appraisal firm, like Sotheby’s. Also, the condition (you may say “mint” like you did in your posting) and the poster size matters.

It may be worth finding an appraiser and asking, usually for a fee, though.

Thanks guys, I guess I sort of jumped the gun in excitement.

I have been in touch with a professional framer in Studio City, CA in order to buy the right type of frame, and feel pretty confident it will help protect my investment.

In regards to eBay, I’m certain the item is genuine. I have had an account there since 2004 and know a lot of the fake warning signs. This poster was one I purchased from a “Mrs.Miniver”, who has a seller store for original movie posters (up to the hundreds of thousands of dollars) and a Power Seller status with 100% positive feedback on almost 450 items since their arrival in 1999, all of which are movie posters.

Can’t wait to get it properly framed and displayed!

It’s 25″ x 19″ by the way. Here’s a copy of the image on it. I like it better than the early ’74 one.

I just bought an original (black and white design) 1973 Exorcist poster in mint (rolled) condtion, and I was wondering if anybody has any info on the best way to preserve it, as it’s already worth a huge sum of money.

Muddy, you probably have the real thing since it came from a reputable dealer like “Mrs. Miniver.” I’ve seen a lot of posters and they are the real deal. Hang on tight to it and keep it away from direct sunlight. Great addition to your home, I’m sure. 🙂
