    Thanks Father.

Doesn’t CNN put dates on their articles? I think this one was from the 12th.

So he cured a woman of cancer who prayed to him? Do you think its real or bullshit?

Anyway, interesting b/c of his connection to the movie.

Yes I know we had the discussion, but isn’t this the same Father Damien that was sainted just last week? Thought it was worth a mention.

Well it would not be hard to do with computer but in ’73 I don’t know. Maybe a trick with perspective? I assume that Miller was taller in the original cut as well, not just TVYNS?

Well I’m not sure that is a nice comment Father. How can you tell how intelligent I am by what I write on this forum exactly?

I heard that Father Damien was recently sainted by the Pope. Isn’t he the one Damien from the movie was named for?

Thanks Sofia. I appreciate the prompt post. Didn’t notice the topic from before. What was it called?

Does anyone have images of Regan’s artwork from the movie? What happened to the original props? Does someone have them? I’d like to see a scan of the original drawings and close-ups of the statues attributed to Regan in the film. I wonder who created them in reality?

Are you serious? Was this a normal picture used on this product or was it especially shot for the movie?

Thanks for the backup Sofia. At least someone here can appreciate my analytical mind. Its really a shame that everyone here seems to take everything so personal. I think that exploring the life experiences of Exorcist fans is key to understanding their reaction to the film and ultimately my own.

Well then I guess its the group consensus that I owe Ms. Rosary an apology. I did not mean to be offensive but psychoanalysis is where I am at right now. Maybe I let my own ideas taint my perception of others, but please don’t take it offensively. That’s all.

Well I am a bit surprised by your reaction here. How the idea of abuse could not had entered your mind when watching the film is beyond me. It is because of the social taboo that the film capitalized on that it scares most people. The Exorcist is a psychological film. How one would expect to understand why its frightening without going into psychoanalysis I don’t know. You asked a personal question about why the film affected you differently from other people so you’d expect it to require a personal answer. I wonder why you are so bothered by this?

You say you never knew your father? Hmmm. Do you think this could have anything to do with things?

Come on guys, someone back me up here. Is it usual to be more afraid of Karras than Regan or not?

If something happened to you to make you more afraid of Karras than Regan then you have my deepest sympathies.

    Take care.

I do not think you are weird. People have suggested that I have been sexually abused before too, which I haven’t been, but that is part of the reason I asked the question. Fearing Karras more than Regan, wow! You have to admit this is not a typical reaction! I am sure there are many explanations for it, but fear of men, abuse or bad parental experiences with the father figure could definitely be some likely explanations, especially for a 7-year-old girl that would typically be in the phase of development where she would be obsessed with her father. This is also a time when many psychologists believe girls are the most vulnerable to abuse.

Don’t forget there are tonnes of theories floating around that Regan was an abuse victim and this is what the film is about. I can certainly understand why a girl going through abuse at the time she watched the film could associate Regan with herself and “father” Karras with an abusive father for instance. Don’t forget that Karras hits Regan near the end of the move near the part you refer to where he becomes possessed. Could this trigger a memory of physical abuse of a daughter by her father? Hmmm. I wonder.

One final question might help shed some light on this mystery. What is your religion of origin.

BTW I truly am sorry for hurting your feelings. I was legitimately trying to understand what was going on in your mind, and I was right about you being a woman so why not go all out with the next question eh?

What character would you want to have?

Hmmm. Suspected you were a woman. Could it be that you have a phobia of men in general? Have you ever been abused by a man? This could certainly taint your view of life as well as films you might see.
