I’m not surprised that you missed the point of the film if you are not religious. The Exorcist is the most religiously literate horror film I know of. People raised Christian, especially Catholic will have a unique appreciation for it. I believe it should be classified as a religious film rather than horror.

I think that more people were involved then just him. Its not fair or realistic to pin all of the blame for a world-wide panic down to one 13 yo’s prank do you?

I believe we should respect the man’s privacy. Imagine if hundreds of people bothered a rape victim about why she won’t give interviews about her experiences constantly for 50 years! Please, be realistic.

Well it was definitely before he completed it, but not before it began. Does these mean that the demon can keep more than one person in the obsession stage at a time but only one fully possessed? Interesting analysis.

I guess that Merrin, being a successful exorcist had the ability to repel the demon, something Regan could not do, and Karras invited the demon to enter him, Merrin did not.
