KeymasterSigh
I've given up editing that page. Every time I make corrections they get removed or changed right back. There was a time I was adding this website and forum to the 'external links' section but someone kept deleting it. It's a shame, really.

I also like this cover. It reminds me of a criterion edition.
I agree, well put.

KeymasterThis is a great find, thanks granville.
I think you might be onto something, Mike (welcome back, by the way!) The more I think about the possibility of The Exorcist having a TV extension, the more I like the idea. TV quality has really improved in recent years (some even suggest we are enjoying another 'Golden Era' or television– which I agree with), All it needs is the right network to set the right mood. Hannibal had a great, frightening and gruesome first season, as did Bates Motel; then there's other deep and gloomy, affective dramas like Breaking Bad, Dexter and American Horror Story. I think The Exorcist as a drama that happens to contain horror could work really well in today's adult television environment.
The Exorcist as a horror for the sake of cheap scares wouldn't work, as proven by (most of) the sequels. it's a fine line to walk– which is why I think it'd be important WPB was behind the writing.

KeymasterThat sounds more like a browser issue, sorry. Are you using Chrome? It's a known bug with the latest google Chrome, I believe.

KeymasterVery strange that your login would work on mobile devices but not on PC. Shouldn't make a difference. Have you changed browsers or anything like that? Running any script blockers or virus scanners on your PC, perhaps?

KeymasterI wholeheartedly agree with Teddy Headspin. While it was fantastic to finally see the spiderwalk scene in TVYNS it absolutely tears the fabric of an otherwise perfect narration (for all the things he mentioned). The original theatrical cut remains my preferred version.

Like I said in my post on the main page, I like the use of the iconic steps and how the cover keeps an ominous tone. If they were definitely not going to use “Merrin Arrives” I'm glad they went with something symbolic and not a picture of Regan possessed or anything.
You're right, Justin, the red text is jarring– especially William Friedkin's name, it gets very convoluted against the background.
Not mentioning “40th Anniversary Edition” is surprising. I'd assume they've left it off on purpose to not date this particular release?

KeymasterThese are incredible Justin, thanks for sharing.
It's amazing how things continually surface from all those years ago.

KeymasterWelcome to the boards, Teddy Headspin (great username). I agree with what you had to say. Sorry you had to buy the original Blu-ray twice already. I did the same but for different reasons– one for watching, one to remain sealed on the shelf.
Thanks for tweeting Friedkin, Sofia. I should do the same. It would be great if he had a response.

KeymasterI'll be interested to hear how fans feel about this release. Is it our own fault for having unrealistic high hopes, or is this as disappointing as it reads? Please share your thoughts.
The fact that a new transfer isn't mentioned at all worries me. Friedkin raved about it and that could be a real selling point for this release. I'm wondering if they might have hedged their bets and just used the 2010 transfer after all?
It will be great to see the Blatty featurettes, but otherwise, this is a repackaged 2010 release (and even most of that was carried over from 25th Anniversary DVD days). I guess there's only so much they can do with a movie that is getting so old. Still…

KeymasterThis would be great to find, but no, I haven't come across it online. I bet she'd have some amazing things to say.
ReganMacNeilfan, Linda Blair hasn't been on that show.

KeymasterThanks for digging this up, Justin.
It's fascinating to watch Linda Blair at this age with The Exorcist at the peak of its hype. She speaks rather eloquently and has that adorable smile; its no wonder the media kept writing up things about her that weren't even true– anything to have her gracing their pages.
Looking forward to the other 'video goodies' you have in store!

KeymasterNice score, Justin! I've never heard anything about Exorcist USB drives being commissioned or used for promotion. Maybe internally at WB, like you suggested, but these were created in 2008 and the Blu-ray didn't get under-way until 2009. They're certainly 'official', though– to be boxed up like that. Very interesting.
Only 128MB– can't even put a copy of the movie on there, which would be fitting.

KeymasterReading your praise for the book and clarifying some facts makes my day, Justin. I'm glad it's a good read and I'm very much looking forward to getting my hands on it in the near future. Thanks for the awesome excerpts.
