While Linda Blair had scared the pants off of most people in the 70’s after starring in The Exorcist, Leslie Nielsen was making them laugh in classics like Airplane! Who would have thought that over a decade later they’d come together to bring us one of the worst spoof movies ever produced. It’s called Repossessed, it spoofs The Exorcist while starring the same lead actress (Blair) and it’s absolutely gold!
I have to admit, I have a soft spot for this film – a nostalgic connection that ensures I have it sitting on my DVD shelf and pop it in my player every once in a while. Such lame jokes, such horrible performances; all worth it for the few chuckles it does provide and the reflections of a simpler time when pop-rap was used in closing credit sequences.
Lion’s Gate have just re-released the film on DVD under their ‘Lost Collection’ series of releases, accompanied by other not-so-good-but-still-secretly-loved-titles such as Slaughter High, My Best Friend Is A Vampire and Irreconcilable Differences, among others. The Repossessed DVD also features the original trailer (which I have embedded below) and an alternate Trivia Track.
If you haven’t yet picked it up and you’re keen to own this comedy classic (ahem…) you can use the link to Amazon below – you’ll be supporting The Exorcist Fansite in the process!
