Uh-uh, most of these tests were done in September 1972.
You can see the date in the footage, written on the clapperboard. It says 7-25-72.Â

ParticipantActually, I was wrong… this can't be the footage that was for sale on eBay as that came from Film Effects of Hollywood and had all their labels on it, and this BD footage was apparently Friedkin's personal copy (I mean, it’s the same footage, not the same copy). I do hope they have the early Eileen Dietz screentests with the white make-up similar to Captain Howdy.
Â
Some of these tests were done in late July (the last one in the video is dated the 25th), only a couple of weeks before principal photography began. And notice how different the design of Regan's room looks? It seems Friedkin wanted a lot of last minute changes.
Â
I also believe digital copies of this footage can be purchased/licensed here, if anyone is interested: http://www.producerslibrary.com
Justin
ParticipantIt's part of Regan's artwork on the cabinet door down in the basement. You can see it when Karras is down there with Chris after Regan vomits on him.

ParticipantLooks like these are coming from whoever scored the lot of test reels that were up on eBay a couple of years back: http://captainhowdy.com/forum/ebay/huge-lot-of-ultra-rare-special-effects-reels/

Pretty amazing footage and can't wait to see the rest of it. Glad it's being shared!

ParticipantThere are some photos up on the Geffen Playhouse website: http://geffenplayhouse.com/more_info.php?show_id=137

ParticipantThanks for posting this, I've always wanted to hear how the dubbed it – especially Friedkin's attempt at the demonic voice!

I don't think that's true, Justin, and I hope it isn't!! It's my dream to see a miniseries adaptation of the novel!
If they go ahead with that, no doubt Blatty will take legal action.

ParticipantÂ
As for The Exorcist TV series, in as much as I have no idea what the script looks like, it certainly does not have my blessing.   I was never consulted or even told about it by Morgan Creek. … it cannot be a TV remake of my novel to which they have no right whatever …
Â
So… it's not so much a remake as it is a rip off?

ParticipantI'm not completely opposed to a mini-series but I'm disappointed that Blatty's screenplay was shelved and this greenlit instead. Also, with the recent trend of exorcism movies, if this series is a big success then you can pretty much guarantee a theatrical remake will happen.

ParticipantI think it's about time for all the missing scenes to be put back together. I'm sure none of us really care if they have sound or not, it'd just be nice to see them.
Maybe some of us could get tweeting to Friedkin with suggestions? Or create a thread on here with ideas, and send the link. He appears to read all of the tweets sent to him.
May 16, 2012 at 7:49 AM in reply to: Limited edition 25th anniversary box set with signed print Linda Blair? #26063Justin
ParticipantAs far as I'm aware, I don't think any of the box sets included a signed photo, and it should be the 25th anniversary DVD (or VHS). Sounds like someone has mixed and matched a bit. Probably still worth picking up, though!
Justin
ParticipantI saw this on their Tumblr and ordered one too! They're pretty cool

Justin
ParticipantIt's gotten 7% on Rotten Tomatoes and 4.2 on IMDB. Heh…
