Thought you all would get a kick out of this. This is from an old audio cassette of mine where I recorded some of the places I knew there would be edits for langauge and other stuff. Of real interest here is Ellen Bursten’s dubbing of the lines that had profanity when they couldn’t outright edit or mute it. Also, the couple of dubbings for the demon voice which is rumored to be William Friedkin himself because he didn’t want to work wirh Mercedes McCambrodge again.

Thanks for posting this, I've always wanted to hear how the dubbed it – especially Friedkin's attempt at the demonic voice!

The actress dubbing Ellen Burstyn sounds like Louise Fletcher! But when do we hear Friedkin's dubbing?? I didn't catch it.

I thought I’d also mention that piece of music early on. That was the bumper music they had before commercial breaks on the network showing. They would fade to the Exorcist title card before the break.

The music there was shown at the end of the scene that the priest discovers the desecrated Virgin Mary statue. The movie version of the statue was replaced with a close up shot of the statue’s face, broken and painted on. I thought, along with the music, it was actually creepier than the theatrical version.
