ParticipantPS: Justin, did you check out Dietz’s website? You’ll be about as pissed as I am about the photos and proclamations. Yeesh!
Yep.
I’m also currently bidding on a set of Linda Blair clippings for one of the articles contains an interview with Ellen Burstyn who completely rips into Eileen…

The seller has only put one page of the article up but I’ll scan the rest if I’m the winning bidder.

ParticipantCompletely agree with you, Ceru.
Actually the face morph before the crotch grab gave be a bit of a shock when I first watched TVYNS because I didn’t expect it, but looking at it now it is a case of too much too soon. And the digital effects are not all that great, either. The very subtle morph between Regan and the Captain Howdy face as Merrin arrives at the house is a much better effect, and that was done in 1973…
All the added effects were fun to spot the first few of viewings but the novelty soon wore off. What I would love is a definitive version of the film that included the extra scenes (I guess I’m in the minority of those who like all the added scenes and extended ending) without all the silliness.

ParticipantHe’s referring to the artifact of Pazuzu he found.
From Wikipedia:
Pazuzu was said to be invoked in amulets which combat the powers of his wife, the malicious goddess Lamashtu, who was believed to cause harm to mother and child during childbirth. Although Pazuzu is, himself, an evil spirit, he drives away other evil spirits, thus protecting humans against plagues and misfortunes.

ParticipantThere’s a recent interview with Deitz at a horror convention somewhere on YouTube. She seems like a lovely lady but definitely takes a bit too much credit where it isn’t due. When the interviewer (who hadn’t seen the film) asked her what it’s like to have a NECA figure of herself, she didn’t bother to correct him and say it’s modelled after Linda Blair…
But I guess when your only claim to fame is THE EXORCIST, you would want to get as much out of it as you could. I certainly would.
And yes, it seems she does believe the Heretic picture is her, it’s all over her official websites and she sells it for signing at conventions.
Justin
ParticipantThanks, guys! Look forward to reading more.
Do you know anywhere I could actually get a copy of the entire script?
Justin
ParticipantHmm maybe you’re right, I haven’t watch the 25th Anniversary edition for years.
As for the blue tint, it doesn’t make sense to me. Coldness doesn’t make a room blue. We all know it was literally that cold in there and the original had completely natural colours. The breath showing is enough IMO. It also takes away from Friedkin’s realistic documentary style – looks too polished.
Justin
ParticipantBump! 😀
Is it still possible to get some scans?
Justin
ParticipantYes that really bugs me too.
That one photo of her double in bed reaching out to Max was actually on the back of an Australian VHS cover for The Exorcist (major facepalm). And I saw a picture just today of Linda at a convention a few years back… behind her they were selling that photo for her to sign.
Eileen Dietz also thinks its herself…
Justin
ParticipantThanks for posting!
I’ve had those two photos in my ‘rare pictures’ folder for a while now and always thought they looked nothing like Linda or Eileen. Makes sense now 😀

ParticipantI do hope that WB doesn’t coward out on the original and leave Chris’ full statement in when she tells the telephone operator, “I’ve been on this fucking line for twenty minutes.” Why the cut in TVYNS is still beyond me and doesn’t make sense.
I too hope that’s left in. It really feels like Friedkin is trying to force onto us that Regan was definitely possessed (there’s not much question in the movie as it is), and that she couldn’t have learned the foul language from Chris.
I’d also like the shot of Regan laughing at the beginning of the party restored.
But I don’t have much faith in that. Both of those were also cut from the 25th Anniversary edition, and I’m sure the ‘original theatrical version’ will be that cut of the film.
