I do enjoy the pink layout they used to make the ads 'pop'.

    And hey, it worked:

Best Picture and Best Director would have been nice, also.

FB, I wouldn't say The Exorcist ruined Linda Blair's career. If anything, she had a career because of the film… or is that being too obvious?

Are you smoking reefer again, FB?  Wink

Like she said, she didn't enjoy having to look at it every day. No wonder people want to believe she became disturbed by her experience. So unique, especially for the time.

I enjoy that picture of all three of them happily together. Who knows when… if… we'll see that again.

There's no denying this blu-ray release has brought many good things for Exorcist fans.

I agree with Justin– that would make a great DVD/Blu-ray cover image.

I've always wondered about that first cut of The Heretic. Could it have really been that bad? I guess so, considering what we were left with.

I agree, FB: The mystery sub-plot might work well in the rumoured mini-series. But it's too much for any feature film length.

Thanks for the follow-up, Jagged– much appreciated. And great that you got to speak with the author of the book about it not being published. Too bad, because the juicy stuff that went on between Blatty and Friedkin is the kind of stuff I crave. The inner thinking and contentious issues that evidently resulted in a masterpiece– I don't see the problem in sharing. Especially if both parties are well past it and (supposedly) friends again.

The illusion continues moments later in that scene, as Father Karras checks Regan's condition with a stethoscope, she begins to speak to him using his Mother's voice. Why you do dis to me, Dimmy? Why?

It is a shame they didn't take the time to remove the wires, but honestly, unless I really look for them, I still don't see them in that scene. It's not like they 'pop' or anything. The effect is still really well done. I guess it's in-keeping with everything else in the Exorcist being achieved with practical effects.

I agree, Justin. I'm in the middle of drafting a post for the main page of CH.com about how disappointed I am in the Blu-ray's documentaries, despite how wonderful the release is. Trickier to construct than I first thought.

    Thank you father,

I have another question, do any of you see any undertones of Regan being sexually abused? I mentioned this to my mother who saw the movies in theaters when it first came out, and she said “No” But I see that she uses the same language as Burke (He said something to the butler like “You cunting hun”) And while Regan is possessed she says “Do you see what your cunting daughter did?” Also a lot of the things she does during the intense scenes is very sexual in nature, so this allows me to believe that he in some way he abused her sexually when Regan's mom left the two of them alone in the house. Or could this just be because Pazuzu is making her use vulgar language?

    FB,

How dare you threaten me with a linguini noodle, the most evil of all noodles! Consider yourself banned!!

I cast you out, unclean spirit!!

What's that? Life… Member? Years of support and dedication? Oh…

    *ahem* Innocent

I re-read your posts carefully FB, and most humbly admit, I see what you're saying. I was quick to reply and partake in the 'debate', is all.

I would suggest less reefer to achieve more succinct points but I don't believe such a thing as 'less reefer' should exist!
