I always thought there was a greater meaning to the radio scene in the original Exorcist.  It wasn't until Exorcist III that I was able to make the connection.  In the movie Exorcist III, residents of the mental institution were receiving instructions from their radios.  It is later revealed that Pazuzu is able to use the patients as his puppets in completing the horrid murders.

I think that perhaps Sharon was a hand maiden (unwilling, but no doubt 'evil-touched') of Pazuzu.  RememberFrom the very beginning, Pazuzu was wanting a re-match.  It wants there to be another exorcism.  , Sharon was the one who called Father Karras to show him the etching on Reagan's stomach. This was the final proof before Karras approached his superiors regarding an exorcism.

If I might dare to explore this concept one step further:  In Exorcist II (yeah the movie many people dispise) Sharon has been fully taken in by the demon.  I think the voice came from the radio.. your comments?

    It's NOT Pazuzzu.

    It NOT Satan.

The STATUE  in Iraq is Pazuzzu, in the book, mentioned ONCE.

The name is NEVER mentioned in the movie and Satan is never mentioned in either.

Regan says “And I'm the Devil…now kindly undo these straps!” out of exasperation.

It also pretends to be Burke and Mrs. Karras to torment Chris and Damien.

It isn't ANYTHING that someone can NAME.

But to end this arguement, let's remember that the “Demon/Regan” (which is what Blatty calls it in the script) DOES reveal who/what it is…BACKWARDS.

    “I am NO ONE”!

    It even mentions it's Creator!

Psychatrist: Where do you come from?

    Regan/Demon: Dog

Psychatrist: You come from a dog?

Regan/Demon: dogmorfmocion…  (backwards for “no i com from god”).

Great find, Ghetto! I'm on Christmas break abroad and missed this news. I'll get something drafted for the main page asap. Superb work!

And what a fantastic accomplishment for a perfect film.

When Karras and Chris meet for the first time. That scene is perfectly shot, perfectly directed and perfectly performed. I always found it very real and full of raw energy. The dialogue is fantastic.

I love how perfect this film is!

I did enjoy this, Steve. Very interesting. The effort you've put in is evident and hearing the dialogue from the novel as opposed to the film is always a nice change. Do you plan on making more, if time permits?

Very well said, Father. I couldn't agree more.

The authenticity of her pain always made that scene a little more daunting.

The original cut is a tour de force of precise storytelling on film. It's intense, engaging and rewarding. TVYNS was exciting to see at the time but it is terribly disjointed and clearly 'geared up' to cater to an audience not so used to the calmly paced editing of 1973.

I'm glad we got to see the spiderwalk and some extra footage, but I cringe when people tell me they're watching The Exorcist for the first time and it was 'The Version You've Never Seen'. Only because, you can't 'unsee' that.

The spiderwalk is also the only time possessed Regan leaves her room, and it completely eliminates thee claustrophobic feeling for the rest of that cut.

Good call, Ttubretep, if the word 'Exorcist' isn't used, he should be safe.

Captain Howdy Halloween Mask would be my suggestion  😉
