FEARnet knows it’s an excellent day year for an exorcism, as they began celebrating the 40th Anniversary of The Exorcist on Wednesday with a live Twitter Q&A with Linda Blair. Followers submitted questions with the hashtag #askregan.
For any die-hard Exorcist fans following the conversation, nothing we don’t already know about the film was uncovered in Linda’s replies. The most commonly asked questions were about the possibility of an Exorcist remake, which Linda reiterated she does think is a good idea. She also stated she was not interested in reprising her role of Regan in a modern-day setting.
The tweets were to promote FEARnet’s upcoming screening of The Exorcist on February 17, featuring an exclusive introduction from director William Friedkin (I presume it will have the same context as the introduction found on the 25th Anniversary DVD). The Exorcist sequels/prequels will also be shown, and Exorcist: The Beginning director Renny Harlin will be interviewed on the network. Add to this a an exclusive contest for folks who follow FEARnet on Twitter (@FEARnet) and it’s safe to say they’ve got The Exorcist covered!
It was great to see Linda interacting with fans of the film in a live environment like this, hats off to FEARnet for a great promotion. I’ve posted some of my favourite tweets from Linda Blair below.
