As fans of The Exorcist know, coming across official memorabilia for the film is a difficult task. Marketing for motion pictures was handled very differently back in 1973 (Star Wars in ’77 soon changed all that!), there wasn’t exactly an abundance of t-shirts, lunch boxes, posters or figurines to latch onto. Not that we need those things to appreciate a film, but hey, after 40 years, they’re cool to find!
With a lack of ‘official’ merchandise sometimes we have to settle for well-crafted artistic variations. Illustrator Nik Holmes recently designed this t-shirt depicting Regan’s possessed tongue in a similar layout of the famous Rolling Stones logo.
The shirt was featured on Tee Fury a couple of days ago and was brought to my attention by Sofia in the discussion forum.
Nik notes that The Exorcist is one of his favorite films. “It has so many iconic scenes and images but pea soup vomit is one of the most popular. I originally wanted to simply parody the Rolling Stones Tongue logo, but inspiration struck!” he said.
Check out the shirt on Tee Fury.
