Precisely, Blizzi, you nailed it! 😛

Granny, but Cobb solo and Kinderman solo are worlds apart, I think. Scotty’s distinctly more on edge and senile.

Ironically, Scott is so uppity it’s hard not to smirk. He’s got his own unique brand of charisma as Kinderman, in or out of the presence of others. Even so, how Blatty calls his casting “perfect” makes me scratch my head. Oh well, not too many older actor out there, then or even today.

Crikey, who should Blatty have cast instead — there was no one cut from the same Cobb, so to speak? 😛 Who in blazes? Hmmm…

I can’t wait. The SAW movies are nothing like THE EXORCIST or its good sequels, but I think they live up to being thrillers; meaning they either thrill ya, or they don’t — when it rains it pours. And thus, they’re thrillers you can return to again and again. It’s not just… see, rent, buy, watch it once and that’s it. No, in fact, it’s like the STAR WARS of horror… IF–I may be so bold.

For “torture porn” or “slasher genre” movies, what people take pleasure in labeling them, they have a ridiculous amount of suspense, believeable dramatic acting — granted, some more than others, but it’s not a documentry featuring characters sharing one personality and history; it’s fiction, and amazingly its characters SELL IT, quite well! — (from actors whose characters have actual arcs from the beginning to the end of one film and/or over the span of the series), it’s astonishing. Ludicrous.

Indeed, you either like ’em or ya don’t, much as I’d love it if more of you guys did! 🙂

What will seal the deal for me is if SAW IV manages to match the entertainment value of its prequels, takes it to the obligatory next level, AND all with its anti-hero — JIGSAW — deader than… my future corpse! 😮

I have every bit of confidence the filmmakers behind this new sequel (VIRTUALLY EVERYONE FROM THE PREVIOUS THREE! That NEVER happens!), aren’t going to do well — in their and fans’ eyes — and now blow it, due to a weak script, bad acting (for what the movie calls for; one may not like the film(s), but that doesn’t mean the acting isn’t so well done it fails to sell story being told), etc. They know what they’re doing, and the evidence is in the first three films; enough evidence to make the most honest of doubters be cautiously optimistic, and us converts counting on their distinctive brand of quality.

I would be shocked if they John Boormanned this, after everything that made the first, second, and third films so great — the trilogy so great. If it was intended to be a turkey, like, say, Exorcist: The Beginning, the individuals-of-talent would have sooner than later dropped like flies. I can’t name one who did, and I’m a shameless, hopeless fan of the series I was skeptical of since day 1, to gradually a lesser extent since, as sequel after sequel blew me away, making this world of SAW a multi-dimensional beast of a saga.

SAW I-III — and soon IV… and V and VI (no joke — they have this planned!) are bigger than the labels people want to give them. And fair enough. 😀

Sooner than later, guys, I shall have a MySpace page of my own. 🙂

Anyway, sure, Blizzi — I’ll be your friend… again, there, too. 😛

It looks looks like Skarsgard, but it doesn’t. Methinks someone — if it IS Skarsgard — Photoshopped it enough to avoid looking like it was ripped off — plagiarized.

Okay, but which then occurred first: The Heretic’s Merrin scenes or the prequel (whichever)?

    Thanks, ’cause I’m clueless! 😛

EDIT: Okay, I think I must have missed it, so… NEW QUESTION: What tells you the prequel(s) take place beforehand?

    Curious and/or plain dumb, 😛

How long is Merrin actually in the film, YOUNG MERRIN? The Georgetown scenes are weaksauce in comparison; who knew one part of this film could be worse or better than another part…? 😐

Short enough to digitize and make ready for dowload/viewing by those of us who traded in their HERETIC DVDs? 😛

Outtakes from Renny Harlin’s loving Exorcist prequel, Exorcist: The Beginning?

“I probably shouldn’t. But… Thank God, my will is weak.” 😛

There should be a death metal Exorcist II tribute band called Synchronizer. I could so pictuere the insane, indecipherable logo.

Hey, guys, so I’ve just about turned in my second draft of my essay for Ben S’s Blatty’s works essays book, but I need to cite my source for one more detail… and so if you know the answer, please share it — I need to know what non-internet source (unless it’s a reprint of the original article or book passage) specifies THIS tantalyzing detail:

John Carpenter was once attached to direct the film that became THE EXORCIST III.

I will owe you bigtime if you can help me here. I’m sure I have at least one mag article that features this detail, but I’ve scoured them thrice now and it’s not turning up.

    Thanks a bunch!

    M.I.K.E.
