ParticipantI don’t know if this is a good idea. They did the “Rosemary’s Baby” mini-series last May, and I do not feel that it was on par with the Roman Polanski version.Same thing with the 2006 remake of “The Omen” and the 1998 remake of “Psycho”.It would be tremendous if they just leave “The Exorcist” alone.Unless of course, William Friedkin, or whoever it was who edited the film on it’s original release, could find the sound tapes for the whole Washington D.C. sight seeing trip on Regan’s birthday, and Regan’s preoccupation with death as she and Chris visit the Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier.
The other issue that I have is I do not want to see Chris, Regan, Father Karras or Lt. Kinderman using smart phones.

ParticipantYes, Karl was lying on the floor when Chris threw the door open in the novel. He apparently had gotten attacked when he put the crucifix back under Regan’s pillow.
For me, the other surprise was that during the crucifix scene, I always thought that when Regan/demon was mutilating herself, her head was on the pillow.I had no idea that she seemed to actually be sitting at the side of the bed in a reclined position. When Chris went to grab the crucifix, it always looked to me like Regan was standing up on her bed, but was actually kneeling at the foot of the bed.
This movie is now about 41, or 42 years old at this point, and yet things like this are all new to me!Ken
ParticipantThat is an incredible find.I was always searching for some evidence of Karl lying unconscious on the floor, like the book described.HOW did you notice this?

ParticipantThis is one intense movie.I had to watch it about four times to make sure that I did not miss anything. The DVD is great, the acting, the dialogue, the characters (notably Sunshine) really drew me in.There were a couple of scenes that did make me cover my eyes…..especially the one featuring a plunger. You have to see this movie all the way through to the end…if you dare. The ending blew me away….I was SHOCKED!
It is truly an honor to see someone's dream taking shape that you've known on and off online for God…how many years?
I sincerely look forward to the next project that Erik Kristopher Myers puts together for us to see….
I really am surprised at how good this movie was.

My main point is, the Exorcist could have suffered having the Jane Fonda stigma.
Barbarella
They Shoot Horses, Don't They?
Klute
Fun with Dick and Jane
Coming Home
The China SyndromeNone of these seemed to suffer from Ms Fondas involvement or acting abilities.
Seems the only people who actually suffered anything were angry ultra right wingers who failed to understand a young ladies disappointment at the behaviour of her country in a foreign land.
Now don't get me wrong I do agree her words and actions were actually a step to far, but when placed into the context and spirit of the times I think perfectly understandable.
I believe she has herself voiced her regret and long since apologised. Time perhaps to put aside all that nasty prejudice, it was after all 40 long years ago. Hanging on to all that anger will just harden your arteries chap.
You have to realize that the ultra left wingers like Jane Fonda was calling American prisoners of war “Liars”.Innocent young men were dying by the thousands and she was betraying them and America as a whole. She was on the side of ultra left wingers such as the Weather Underground who were busy blowing up police stations and wanted to basically overthrow the United States and turn it into a communist dictatorship the way Obama is actively doing now. It's ironic how ULTRA LEFT WINGERS brand US patriots and believers in the US constitution as Ultra Rightwingers. The ULTRA Leftwingers have this insidious trait of turning truth upside-down.During the days of Vietnam, the only way that one avoided being drafted was A.) join the army, navy, air force, or the marines before you got the draft notice..or B.) Be fortunate enough to have a rich father who could put you through college as another way of avoiding being drafted into that police action up until the year 1972 when Richard Nixon stopped the draft.Yes…NIXON stopped the draft, whereas democrat Johnson escalated the war in 1968.Nixon may have done Watergate, but did people die like the ones in Benghazi last year under Barack Obama?
Jane Fonda is a phenomenal actress and the movies you have listed are all great (even Barbarella was awesome).I don't know how she ever got through a movie like “They Shoot Horses, Don't They”….She passed on “The Exorcist”, as everyone here knows, to quote Friedkin, she said, “Why would I want to have anything to do with this capitalist horsesh*t”.An ultra leftwinger usually doesn't believe in God and tries very hard to force their ideology down everyone's throats.Just look at the atheist groups attacking war memorials that have crosses marking the dead who gave their lives to their country that was founded on Judeo-Christian principles.

Hmm, so getting back to the topic of the thread.
I just watched Heretic again not long ago, and I have to sympathize with Boorman's intentions for the film, though I still say that the “cornball” factor is through the roof throughout the movie. He simply should have just started from scratch (sorta speak) and came up with something else that would lay a better framework from which to depict the power of Goodness. He could have made a much better film even without resorting to the old tricks of the original. While I applaud him in not mimicking Friedkin's work, it is still overall a very grueling film (for me) to sit through. The soundtrack is especially tedious.
I had the sad experience of seeing “The Heretic” at age nine when it opened theatrically. After hearing about the horrors of the original film, I was relieved to find that this film had none of it.To me, the film seemed more like a fantasy than anything else.As a direct sequel, it fails, but on it's own…..it reminds me a lot of a movie that Natalie Wood was working on at the time of her death, called “Brainstorm” that was released in 1983.Louise Fletcher was also in that one.It featured a machine in which you could experience the dreams of other people.

1659 post? Hmmm, talk about an impact on one's mind. Might be a good idea to go outside & get some fresh air it could do you the world of good. Staying inside 247 & prowling this forum looking for somebody to pick an arguement with makes you look rather childish & if your actually an adult even more so pathetic. By the way … You have been reported … Enjoy the aftermath you created.
I don't really quite understand why individuals like you come to this site to belittle several members. Although I believe you are one in the same person who has had many pseudonyms over the years on here. Years?
That's right. Years. Those of us who really enjoy the site have been here for years and have added quite a few posts. (Pssst … you don't have to tell me the number of posts I have, it's right there on the screen for me and God to see.)
Thank you for “reporting” me. I will look forward to the aftermath although I shudder to think of the repercussions. I'm quaking and overwrought with despair.

I once did that about nine or 10 years ago when CaptainHowdy.com was still very young and I was just starting out on the internet. At the time, it was hard for me to comprehend that I was actually addressing REAL PEOPLE! I guess that the only reason I am kind of putting in my two cents, is that I was intrigued by the discussion and became kind of shocked that an argument got started. This is a great website, and there are so many interesting people who help to keep this thing alive.Satanas offered interesting insights to “The Heretic” and you, Father Bowdern seem pretty cool yourself. Can you guys call a truce?

ParticipantOh jeez….it was old news and a bad link, apparently.Sorry about that, folks!

ParticipantMorgan Creek just doesn't get it, do they?

ParticipantI just finished eating when I came across this. There was something about communion hosts made out of flour, feces, semen, and all things that are disgusting.Bearing this in mind, I must leave now and go vomit. Those descriptions of black mass were even more disturbing to me than the crucifix scene..I have to wonder what must have been going through Blatty's mind as he was writing all of this down.

Ken
ParticipantThat isn't a problem.William Peter Blatty already has us as his die hard fans.
February 20, 2012 at 5:35 AM in reply to: Some similarities between The Bad Seed & The Exorcist #25968Ken
ParticipantThis is an amazing comparison. The bedroom shot is what just blew me away. The only thing about both girls portraying evil, is that Rhoda was evil in nature when Regan clearly was not.Regan was victimized and tormented by an evil entity.Besides that though, WOW!It would have been a scream if “The Exorcist” had the same kind of ending as “The Bad Seed”.You know, when all of the actors and actresses are introduced as though it is a stage play? The part where Patty McCormick is taken over her mother's knee and given a spanking?
Ken
ParticipantThey think that they will generate more revenue by giving it an R rating here in the states. When will Hollywood finally get it and stop rehashing the same thing over and over again? There is only one other possession film to me that comes close, and it was back around 1961 with a film called “The Innocents”.
Ken
ParticipantI am very curious about where I can see this film.Aside from Lars Von Trier's “Melancholia”, which I finally DID get to see, this is the one film that keeps eluding me.Is it going to be in a limited release, or will it be mass marketed? Will it get a DVD release?I have seen clips and I find this, from what I have seen, very gripping.
