ParticipantNice spotting! I've never noticed that and I don't think it's been mentioned on here before. I wonder what it means?
Justin
ParticipantAwecome collection, love the shirt!

Justin
ParticipantJust checked my copies of both TVYNS and Extended Director's Cut and that shot is most definitely still there.
Justin
ParticipantThere's a few animation and pose players now, which is a good start. I'm still holding out for an equilvient of Body Shop tho. TSR Workshop is alright but not much use for the kind of stuff Sof does.
Justin
ParticipantSims 3 has way too many limits. Can't make half the amazing stuff that Sofa does with Sims 2!
Justin
ParticipantAha, not yet! Those patterns and colours do not quite match:

It looks more like this gown she is wearing during the spiderwalk (if you blur it):

Only THE EXORCIST could have you analyzing fabrics.

Justin
ParticipantThis would be nice to own!

Nice spotting, Sofa. I never even noticed that first picture is set in Chris' room. It makes sense now.

ParticipantThe way it was written for the film makes it all the more confusing.
In the novel the missing “funny noises” scene follows directly after the Burke/birthday discussion. Blatty doesn't mention Regan lying awake listening to the noises, just that she goes down to the study. After that, Chris lets Regan sleep in her bed and goes up to into the attic. When she comes back down she puts Regan back in her own room.
In the film, the “funny noises” scene has been removed and the attic scene pushed back to when Regan complains of her bed shaking. Then we have this quick shot of Regan in between that comes from the earlier deleted scene where the attic scene should have followed.
My guess is that there was an extra part written and filmed after Chris says good night to Regan that shows her lying awake listening to the noises (which is where this random shot of Regan spliced into the attic scene comes from), then it cut to Chris in the study and Regan coming down to complain of the noises. But that still doesn't explain the patterned object and what looks to be white pillows, when they should be blue like during the Burke/birthday discussion. Maybe it's simply a continuity error (now within another continuity error).
Surely there must be some script or record of these missing scenes somewhere…?
Justin
ParticipantShe's wearing a cream coloured nightgown at the end of the party scene, so it can't be from there. The patterned pillow (or whatever it is) I can't spot anywhere in the film, not even the Burke/birthday discussion.
Justin
ParticipantHave you done the Hot Shoppe scene yet?
I'd like to see that.Justin
ParticipantThat's more like the font used for the two prequels rather than the original film, but I was actually looking for that one anyway… so thanks!

Justin
ParticipantNice poem, hope you got a good grade for that!

yet another “Is it Pazuzu or Satan himself” debate…..
That's not exactly what this thread is about and I never once mentioned Satan. I'm simply interested in hearing people's opinions, since whenever similar a topic comes up the general consensus is that the demon is Pazuzu. I've never looked at it any other way, but reading this blog post gave me another perspective… it might do others, too.

I've quoted this here so many times in answer to this question. Here we go again…
Blatty's words on the subject from his 1974 book “Exorcist From Novel to Film”
“Even in terms of my novel, I have never known the Demon's identity. I strongly doubt that he is Satan; and he is certainly none of the spirits of the dead whose identity he sometimes assumes. If I had to guess I would say he is Pazuzu, the Assyrian demon of the southwest wind. But I'm not really sure. I know only that he's real and powerful and evil and apparently one of many and aligned with whatever is opposed to love.”
There's nothing a little more recent? That was written a year after the film's release. Friedkin has certainly changed his tune on many things since then, it's highly possible Blatty has too. I've always believed it to be Pazuzu, but it would be interesting to know what Blatty has to say about it now.
Justin
ParticipantI believe that shot was taken from a deleted scene where Regan hears the noises coming from the attic, and complains to Chris about it in the study. The scene would have followed the “you can bring Mr. Dennings” conversation, which is why she is wearing the same nightgown.

Oh, how I hope one day we'll get to see those scenes…
