Just call it POSSESSED, it’s simple and to the point.

Except that’s already the title of a horrible possession flick based around the original story Blatty was inspired by, so it wouldn’t really work.

This isn’t going to turn into another stupid etrigan69 and ratboy thing is it?

What Scrupulous Conscience posted was perfectly acceptable. He was only stating something that many people have already said themselves all over this forum, and was not putting anyone down. Honestly, why does everything have to turn into a big drama because two people don’t share the same opinion?

Looking forward to it! Good luck with the shoot, too. 😉

Isn’t this old? It was confirmed to be a load of rubbish.

If you like Evil Dead then you should like Bad Taste and Braindead (the latter being probably the goriest, OTT film I’ve ever seen).

And yeah, same Justin. No idea what happened to it though? You’d have to ask Cap.

No … but I think I’ve seen the sequel “Re-Possesed” starring Linda Blair.

That would be a nice rare example of a sequel being a lot better than the original, then. Because ‘Possessed’ is dreadful.

    PROS:

Longer movies are more tolerated nowadays. This gives the chance to follow more closely and include some things that were left out of the novel in the original film.

(But, Sof; how can you say that? They could have it exactly like the novel, but hire the most horrible cast and crew that do a total whack job of it. Just because it has everything the novel has, isn’t going to make it any good as a movie.)

Also, CGI isn’t such a horrible thing if used correctly. What I’d have in mind for a ‘today’ version of the head spin (which wouldn’t actually be a head spin like the original) would probably require a light use of CGI. It could also help with the change in Regan’s facial features, giving her a more sick, skeletal look (Linda looked too chubby).

They really the only positives I have to say about a remake.

    CONS:

Well firstly, I completely agree with everything Cap has said. And I don’t really think that most teens nowadays will go and watch the original. Many don’t even know of its existence and think The Beginning is the original. Then there’s those who don’t know of any Exorcist films, and then will then think that the remake is the original. And if it – and it’s most likely to – sucks, then it will ruin THE EXORCIST name.

And, being a young fan of the film is hard enough with most generalizing teens for being too stupid to appreciate the original. With a horrible remake using the same name, when I say The Exorcist is my favorite movie no doubt I’ll get a few funny looks.

I also really don’t believe they will hire a director that will take a remake seriously either. They’re not going to remake it to please all the older folk because the older folk have the original. A remake will be made to rake in the average teeny boppers.

I really don’t think he made the film to please others as much as himself, it was his own geeky little dream. But at least he actually cares for the original film and put everything he had into the remake. I’m just glad he did it before some real hack came in a ruined it (it was bound to happen soon or later).

Have you seen Braindead, Bad Taste, or Meet The Feebles? Arguably some of his best work, especially Braindead. It’s the low-budget horror gems that I really like him for.

King Kong remake sucked ass that was directed by a one trick pony

Errr, how? You’re entitled to your own opinion on the film and I can understand you saying that about Rob Zombie, but not Peter Jackson. Have you actually seen all his movies? One trick pony I think not…

Fat bearded, four eyed glasses wearing dork who dresses like a slob and doesn’t wear shoes.

Actually, he was that BEFORE King Kong. He’s quite thin now. He lost all his weight making KK.

Peter Jackson did okay with Lord of The Rings but now he’s nothing more than a remake re-imagining hack.

Just like the ‘one trick pony’ comment, how? He has remade one film, which won 3 oscars, and is now working on something new and original. How exactly does that make him only a remake hack now?

You can’t go and make a bunch of stupid comments with no valid points to back them up at all…

I guess it depends on the shot, some of the other behind the scenes pics make it look more realistic without the contacts. If only they had tried to make her face look thinner.

I actually would have preferred her without them if the film was a bit more like the novel with the possession being questionable.

Then again, what remake based so faithfully on a classic was ever decent? Psycho, Omen, Halloween…

Nosferatu, King Kong… 😛 Those are the only two I can think of, though.

Other possession films? Sure! They’re fairly rare these days so it wouldn’t take anything away from The Exorcist.

But I definitely would not like to see film in general covered on an Exorcist fan site. 😉
