I have over 300 Blu-ray screencaps of the movie. Can't do the features, though (don't have a BR drive, just a copy of the movie on here).

The blood could have been from Burke, after all the spiderwalk occurs a few minutes after his death… but I'd rather not take The Exorcist into vampire territory. Frown What they should have done, if they did in fact use CGI on the scene, is put the blood all over her face instead of pouring out her mouth.

Either way, it still seems out of place and ruins the mystery surrounding Burke's death and the silhouette Kinderman sees, as we know for sure she is able to move around freely even when supposedly sedated. It's the only scene I wouldn't mind being taken out for good.

I guess I'm in the minority of those that prefer all the other added scenes, including the doctor visit.

It's the same thing as put lipstick on the Mona Lisa.

I think in this case it's more like the Mona Lisa originally had lipstick but then da Vinci decided that shade didn't suit her.

The original cut is the one released on DVD, isn't it? Or is there another one?

I just remember there being two different VHS versions. The 'original theatrical cut' had a black cover and is the one included in all the box sets. Then there was the rare cut Boorman made after the movie was released, which was in a red cover and included the badly dubbed bits from the original film (my favorite being a shot of Linda yelling “Fu*k him Karras” which was dubbed over with “Fill her up!!”). I have a really poor quality copy of that somewhere.

That reminds me, I need to get a copy of that making-of book! Anyone know where to find it?

Watched the original version last night. It looks amazing, albeit a few overly grainy/noisy scenes and some inconsistent contrast levels, but I was surprised how great some of the darkest scenes look (attic, pub) as if they were filmed yesterday. The scenes in Iraq are definitely the best, though, the detail is stunning. I didn't mind the colour timing at all either… in fact… dare I say I even prefer it over the 1997 DVD!!

As for the new features, I'll be honest and say I was a little disappointed. All the BTS footage is fantastic and I'm so happy to have seen it, but I felt it needed to go for at least another 30 mins. There was too much left out, and it focused a bit too much on Linda. They also seemed to wimp out on showing some of the tougher moments on set that were talked about in the Fear of God.

But hopefully they won't hold anything back for a 40th anniversary! Laughing

I just don't see any reason for them to have CGI'd it all in when they had the shot. And if that is the case, it means they would have done a third take with her coming down the stairs and then holding her empty mouth open, which seems very unlikely.

But like you said, 'we don't really know crap'. One problem is solved and another arises… like, if you squint, Hager looks like Eileen Dietz (but don't tell her that).

I think it's entirely possible the book is just wrong. But… I still wouldn't rule out the blood being 'touched up' a little with CGI.

It doesn't look that way to me, though, after seeing all the BTS footage.

They should use this poster for the artwork of a 2 disc Blu-ray with both cuts of the movie Laughing

I just bought a copy of Watchdog Magizine and it's all about The

Exorcist. This will probably be my new favorite thing. Anyone of you

    guys have one of these?

    This one?

It's one of the best magazine write-ups on the film!

Amazon told me it had shipped and would arrive today, but DHL tell me they only just received it and it probably won't arrive until Monday. F**k it. Yell

Yep, it looks like that – but that's the Kermode version, ain't it? The Trevor Willsmer one has the same cover but apparently different content.

BTW, didn't someone post an exact picture of this BR saying it belonged
to them? Look here. Maybe we have a CH.com fan and eBay seller
    all in one?

I posted the picture from that auction just as an example.

^ That's the Mark Kermode version, which is in the 25th Anniversary Deluxe Box Set.

I had never heard of it before, either!

There's another up on ebay from the same seller. Also on Amazon:

This book was not given a proper release for unclear reasons,
either because William Friedkin complained or because the same company
commissioned two books at the same time. It depends who you ask.
There's a book with the same layout and title by Mark Commode that
went in the 25th anniversary video boxed set a few years ago.
This one was sold only in cinemas showing the film in 1998 and is
much better. The text is completely different and much more
detailed about the making of the film. It doesn't just have
interviews with lots of the main players like Friedkin or Linda Blair
or makeup genius Dick Smith. It even interviews people like Lalo
Schifrin who's score was thrown out of the film. There are quotes
from studio memos, rare articles, great pictures, everything you
ever wanted to know about the greatest horror film ever. It is a
bit short on pages for the money but it's fact packed more than the
other books on the film. This has been available at conventions and
book fairs for a while but I think Amazon is the only bookshop to
have this edition. Love The Exorcist? You'll want this.

Not particularly rare or anything, but I'm quite fond of the Oscar nomination ads that I just got framed. I have a thing for retro minimalist designs.

Need to hook 'em up but:
