It's needs to be put in theaters. A levitating girl outside the screen would be amazing!

The CGI'd demon faces were ridiculous. You can't put computer graphics from the year 2000 into a film shot in 1073. It looks ridiculous, and so much of it was unnecessary. It reminds me of George Lucas ruining the original Star Wars films with all that CGI nonsense.

Is this Eileen, and if so, was this scene used?

Yes, but which house was it that the events took place?

I thought the final confirmation was:
3807 40th Avenue, Cottage City, Maryland

Look at :00 – :05. It’s the same footage. The stunt double is about to stop.

He just put in a fake face with CGI, like the scene where they overlapped the demon face during the bedroom trance/psychiatrist scene.

So, are we thinking that he took that one, and perhaps, only take, and CGI’d the face onto that?

If you think about it, the stunt double stops and then the mouth opens. You could ask, “How could this be the same exact ‘tongue’ scene, but CGI’d? The double stops, and in the original, she just keeps going?”

Well, remember that scenes stop and go. I’m sure the double stopped at the bottom of the staircase, they said cut, and in comes Linda Blair. So, instead of sequencing them altogether, the original scrapped film would be unedited and would have the double stopped before they stopped the camera. So, it could in fact be from the only take, “the tongue film”, but he showed the double stopping at the bottom, and in comes the CGI’d face. In the original bit, we never see the person stop. This could make people think that this had to be a different take, since the double stays still for a few seconds when he/she hits the bottom step. This doesn’t have to be so.

I hope someone gets what I’m trying to say here.

    “no snake-like one”

That was filmed though, with the tongue, right? Or are you referring to something else people were saying were alternates?

It dawned on me as well that the entire mouth may have been put on by CGI. Such a shame that Linda Hager didn’t do more films, and that you can’t find her on Google like Eileen. I’d e-mail and ask her.

Are you trying to say that the whole blood coming out of mouth was cgi to begin with? Would the actress then have had to just have had her mouth open with nothing coming out for them to add in later? Perhaps so. Remember that they drew in Linda’s vomit.

So the demon was lying when it addressed itself as so?

Its amazing that the book took a real mythological creature for the movie, that does in fact exist, although when you look it up on Wikipedia, there are two entries for Pazuzu. One if the historic creature, and the other one is credited as a fictitious character.

Is it suppose to be the historic character or just something Blatty made up himself? The statues look pretty similar.

Here’s confirmation, directly from the script. Reverse the letters to tell what she is saying backwards.

Karraspulls out a small vial of water.

    REGAN/DEMON
    What’s that?

    KARRAS
    Holy water.

Karras moves to the end of the bed.

    REGAN/DEMON
    You keep it away.

Karras uncaps the vial and now sprinkles it’s contents over
Regan. Instantly, Regan writhes in pain and terror.

    REGAN/DEMON
Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Ahhhhhhh! It burns! Ohhhh! It burns!

Regan’s head falls back onto the pillow as she rolls her head
from side to side shouting out indistrict gibberish:

    REGAN/DEMON
    Emit su evig!

Karras is intrigued and sits on the bed beside her. He moves the
microphone up to her mouth an listens.

    REGAN/DEMON
Ydob eht ni mraw si ti! Uoy ees I! Tseirp a si eh! Emit su evig!
    Nirrem! Nirrem!

    KARRAS
    Who are you?

    REGAN/DEMON
Tseirp a si eh! Eno on ma I! Eno on ma I! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

I’ve been asking forever if the scene with the blood was either done in 2000, or if it was from the original film. It looked too CGI’ed. You can see they sped it up. Whether if that’s how the orinal footage was intended, I don’t know. The blood looks too clear. IMO, it just doesn’t work.

They obviously released the other tongue spiderwalk scene to the media beforehand to throw the audience off as to what to expect when they watched the scene in the theaters.

Well, when you think about it, his voice could have been used for many of Reagan’s possession scenes instead of the demon voice.

Well, since possession is not real, no.

I have read a lot about Anneliese Michel. She was extremely religious, and if you look at the environment in which she lived, she was a perfect candidate to believe in a supernatural explanation to fault all her problems on.

I’m sure you’ve listened to the tapes of her during her exorcism sessions, Benocles_Czar?

“and the last one involved Regan biting Sharon on the leg.”

Ooo, were there any stills of this, or any rough footage? That would be amazing to see!

I never could find a place which discussed the spiderwalk scenes and what was shot. Where did you learn that there were three?
