Participant“in fact, right. With technical advances, scenes that didn’t work then could now be fixed with CGI”
I still think the bloody spider-walk scene was CGI’d and that makes me think so even more……

ParticipantI turn off III when nurse “Bedelia” gets subdued. That’s where it veers off course to the ending the execs wanted instead of following the book. (Yes! I read it!)

ParticipantOne of the scariest things about The Exorcist is you figure out that Regan has been up to all kinds of things. The scene where Kinderman goes to his car and looks up at Regan’s window and she’s supposed to be strapped to the bed but someone moves by the window creeps me the hell out!

ParticipantMy god man. Those are both incredible. The eyes are awesome. I thought you used glass eyes also.
I’ve been painting figure model kits for 20 years + and those are seriously some of the nicest paint ups I’ve ever seen.
How did you do the hair? Is it punched or a wig? That can’t be the hair that came with the kit!

ParticipantNo kidding. Try buying it buddy. You can get it on ebay fairly cheap.

ParticipantI am totally unconvinced that it was shot. In Mark Kermode’s book Friedkin says he forgot that they shot it. I find that hard to believe.
I think it was CGI all the way….

If the miniseries is going be faithful to the novel, then yes, the ongoing mystery as to whether Regan is truly possessed or not should be very important! The problem with horror movies nowadays is that they focus too much on special effects rather than the story.
This is just what I’m getting at. If they keep it subtle I think a large amount of the audience will be extremely turned off. There is going to be a certain expectation there.
One thing about the original that always got me was when Karras first meets Regan her eyes have changed color and her pupils are pinholed. She has grown subtle fangs and she looks like she has been dead for a week. Add to that the intelligence and the voice. How can there be any doubt that she is possessed?
The point is who do you disappoint? The small contingent that want to see a faithful rendition of the book or the larger audience that has never read the book and is going to expect to be shocked and frightened?

ParticipantI was thinking. How will they go about this? Will they play up the is she possessed or not angle? If so then they will have to keep it a lot more subtle than the original. The problem with that would be people will expect it to be extreme (and possibly more extreme than the original) and will find it anticlimactic.
I can’t get my head around how they should do it….

ParticipantDennings in the morgue is descrined in the book also.
I always assumed the demon was lying to confuse Karras.

ParticipantThis one is my favorite.

ParticipantFirst of all this movie scared the crap out of me when I was 12 (When it was originally released. *Wheeze*)but upon further examination it is so much deeper. Especially when you read the book. It just gives this film so many dimensions.

ParticipantNice FB!!

ParticipantExactly. There’s a part in the scene where Chris is facing away from Kinderman and she lets it go for a second, then she goes back and makes it through the rest of the questioning.
That scene is so subtle it may have taken a few (or maybe 50 or so!)viewings for me to catch it.

ParticipantMercedes Cambridge smoked cigarettes and chews apple and drinks to get the voice.
I think the cuts with Dietz are pretty obvious. The make up just looks different. I have seen stills where it says “Linda Blair” at the bottom, so maybe it’s not so obvious to everyone.
