Great video Sofia. How did you permission to use Blatty’s voice and the clips from the film? Also, why is there so much noise in the voice over?

Interesting trailer. Looks like a curse more than a possession, although I guess you could interpret a curse as a type of possession? Also there seems to be a reference to a “demon”.

Do I take it you recommend this film Bowdern? How would you rate it compared to the Exorcist?

Cool! Is Drag Me To Hell a demon possession plot?

By the same token one could surmise that “Dobetni tee siti” was actually intended to be “it is heat in the body“. As for “l’drehtellteeson” I’m not sure what it is? “no see [something] let her die“?

Was it “Fear the priest” or “He’s a priest”? I wonder what was meant by “Give us time”?

Drexul, it was a trick, wasn’t it? I mean after-all didn’t Heretic reveal the Demon hadn’t truly left Regan or something like that?

Hi Drexul. As someone that didn’t experience the ’70’s can you tell me what sort of thing influenced this “dread”? Vietnam? Changes in Catholicism? The cancellation of the original Star Trek?

Yeah. It certainly is possible for gibberish to sound like words just like its possible to see a face in Cydonia Mesa, Mars, or even, if your imaginative enough, on the front of your car! Most people’s hearing is not as good as they think and rely heavily on context clues when listening to audio. Most of the time its best of we can see the mouth of the person talking. With neither its often impossible to make heads or tails of what’s said. It can even difficult when you do have those things!

Hi Capt. I like your response but could you please elaborate on what you mean by “changed the way staggered cinema releases”. I was not aware of this fact.

Yeah. Didn’t they release the unedited version of Eyes Wide Shut in Europe? Pretty sure they released the US version in Canada (what a surprise). Is the original cut not available on DVD in North America?

HI PT. I think that its various aspects of the film that make it so compelling. One of course being the fact that its one of the few films that does not shy away from the taboo. It dives head on into shocking religious topics and shows sexual images which, I kid you not, some people in the United States are in prison for less disturbing pornography! I think its the film’s bold ability to fight these taboos that makes the unbelievable seem so believable and is the whole key to what makes it so scary.

Another piece of the recipe of a good horror film that the Exorcist does well is it doesn’t reveal all its secrets. Nothing is scarier than a horror film that leaves one wondering what happened at the end and the Exorcist does this very well.

Hey Capt. didn’t realize you were Australian. BTW I loved the “liminal” cut at the end. Its classic.
