John Calley was right and correct in removing the scene. Aside from the secnes you have mentioned (which STILL might be hard to find actual cut versions of), there is only raw footage remaining – no scenes actually cut together.
This is how I understand it, anyway. We will never actually know until they open that vault.
There are no more cut scenes, just stock footage as I understand it. There is no reason why it should all be locked away when Exorcist fans are dying to see it before it erodes or is forgotten after a remake… *touches wood*

To completely fix Heretic you’d need to peel it riiiiiight back to the opening credits and start all over again.
As for a shocking ending, I’d go with tearing out her evil heart. That’d be pretty funny.
