KeymasterHonestly never heard of it. Very interesting! Hopefully it contains even more rarities!

KeymasterOh hell yes, Justin– they look fantastic!
… I particularly like the website your monitor is displaying in that picture 😉

KeymasterThey are rare as-in, you will only find them second-hand now. Like on ebay  😉

Cap, that will make a nice edition if you can add it on here!
That's exactly my intention, FB. Hopefully in time for Halloween, but don't hold me to that.
Finding a decent projection facility in my city is tricky… and I refuse to send it away to be digitized. It will never leave my sight!

KeymasterWould be neat-o to find these, Justin. They're very rare now. I'll be scoping second-hand book stores and ebay!

It would have been nice if they would have gotten a third party like Mark Kermode involved for a new commentary with both Friedkin and Blatty together. Maybe in another 10 years….
That's a great idea! I'm always fascinated by what Kermode has to say– and not just about The Exorcist. His movie reviews are phenomenal. His book on The Exorcist is especially brilliant — still the best book about the film I've ever read.
It's a shame that the same commentaries have just been rehashed, but first-timers would be oblivious to this fact. Like you say, perhaps Kermode can be part of the next format release. (They have to do an Ultimate 40-year Anniversary release in 2013, don't they? Hint-hint, wink-wink.)

KeymasterJustin, mine did the same! I managed to pick it up a the Borders store in Adelaide many years ago. Fell to pieces pretty easily. An extension of the dreaded curse, perhaps? Ha.

KeymasterThat reminds me, I need to order another copy of the screenplay!

KeymasterOf all the things I own, my most prized possession (pun intended) would have to be the 8mm digest print of the film. They're very rare and the cut is extremely unique.
Having said that, I still haven't actually seen the print. I'm arranging to have it screened and record the projection very soon.
October 8, 2010 at 10:20 PM in reply to: Q: Why does Regan react in pain if it is just tap water the priest uses? #23425Jason Stringer
KeymasterPerhaps because the demon knows that by reacting in that manner it won't support the case for excorcism as later revealed by Karras.

Ellen is my aunt and she visits often when she's on the east coast. She is lovely lady and soul.
Pretty easy to get her autograph then, hey FB? 😉
October 8, 2010 at 6:39 AM in reply to: William Peter Blatty and William Friedkin might work together again on DIMITER #23419Jason Stringer
KeymasterMovie blogs across the web have picked this up with steam today, I think because of The Exorcist Blu-ray being topical right now and because it's the first time Blatty has mentioned it in an official printed interview.
Jason Stringer
KeymasterIt is possible to change it, but I've left it as one link per post to avoid spam posts, of which we had a few here in the beginning (some still remain in the archives).

KeymasterFor me, The Fear Of God will always be the definitive behind-the-scenes documentary of The Exorcist. It was the first to do what it did so well (even a non-Exorcist fan is captivated watching it) and it's the only documentary to feature Jason Miller before his untimely passing in 2001.
That, and most of the documentaries are quick to delve into Linda Blair's rumoured problems and give everything a drifty-photo E! vibe. Very uncool. Like ekm says (above):
…simply improves with age, particularly when viewed against what passes for “special features” in this day and age.
I was extremely happy to discover The fear Of God would be included on the Blu-ray along with Roizman's footage. It really does make it the ultimate Exorcist item.

KeymasterNice, Justin. Blu-ray.com also confirms the Blu-ray is region-free. Phew!
