ParticipantPoloraids of existing photos? Sounds bogus.
GhettoExorcist
ParticipantIt’s insanely freaky. I had trouble listening to it.
GhettoExorcist
ParticipantIt was to show that the demon (pazuzu, satan, whatever) had a psychological hold on everyone that surrounded it. It’s funny this question gets asked so much yet nobody questions the validity of Reagan floating, changing into Karras’s mother, moving objects she isn’t touching, talking in other people’s voices. Everything that is shown is from the bystander’s perspective. That’s why I think the movie is so effective.
GhettoExorcist
ParticipantI did like what Zack Snyder did with Dawn of the Dead. A remake with a twist.
GhettoExorcist
ParticipantSome interesting makeups. I think one or two are actually doable because they are subtle but most are very over the top.
GhettoExorcist
ParticipantI seriously doubt it has been filmed. Your friend may be confusing the Father Merrin death scene in the Exorcist II. I have never read a copy of the screenplay that contained the scene and to think it was just something that was filmed at the spur of the moment is absurd. To add to the argument that it isn’t even the book. I think if you have the gift of something that can be interpreted instead of having to flat out tell someone, you have a better story device. It would be cheating the audience to show them such a scene and I’m sure Friedkin and Blatty knew that.
GhettoExorcist
ParticipantI’m almost positive this was never shot. It would answer one of the greatest mysteries in the film and certainly take something away from it. Friedkin being the genius that he was at the time, knew this. I think people may have gotten this scene mixed up with the Merrin death scene from Exorcist II, which in my opinion almost ruins some of the best things of the first film. That to which you don’t see.
GhettoExorcist
ParticipantVery cool!!! Glad they lost the socks for the actual scene though.

ParticipantI think it’s amazing to see Linda without the contacts but in full possession makeup. She looks very unconvincing. The contacts really added the fierceness to her character.
GhettoExorcist
ParticipantIt sure as heck-fire is.
GhettoExorcist
ParticipantI seriously doubt there is anything special about this pic. It looks as if the image has just been mirrored or flipped. I hate to be the one to burst everyone’s bubble.
GhettoExorcist
ParticipantI’d hate to be the buzz kill but this is nothing more than an animated gif of a picture the dummy they used to spin Regan’s head. You can tell that it’s the dummy due to the lifeless look about it.
GhettoExorcist
ParticipantWhile I disagree about the theory that Reagan is being molested by Burke, I do think it’s an interesting point the reviewer brings to the table about her symptoms of someone who has been molested. I never really thought about it but I guess I am surprised that wasn’t mentioned in the film because it would be one of the first theories a doctor would conclude these days.
August 16, 2007 at 11:59 PM in reply to: Is There Any Undubbed Footage of Linda As The Demon? #18784GhettoExorcist
ParticipantSuch footage would be great for fans but I’m sure Friedkin would have a hissy fit because I’m sure the footage would be unintentionally funny and take away certain elements. Imagine the viewing the scene where Karras tapes Reagan while she speaks in tongues without the dubbing. I imagine it to be less than effective.
GhettoExorcist
ParticipantI dunno who she is but her image is somewhat iconic amongst Exorcist fans because 7/10 times there is a picture of Reagan possessed it is this actress in full possession makeup from the second film.
