ParticipantTHIS MAKES MY DAY!!!!! As far as make-up tests, I wonder if we’re going to see something new are they just gonna rehash the same stuff. Either way, 3 new docs and a 1080p master of the film is worth the price of the disc!!

ParticipantWOW!!!! This is truly another amazing find!! Great Work!!!

ParticipantNothing short of amazing!!! I would definitely like to own one if I wasn’t sure that I’d pee myself every time I enter a room with one of those busts looking at me with those lifelike grimacing faces.

ParticipantI would have to say her vocal performance is next to awful but I don’t agree with the whole “she can’t act” statement. I bought her as that character 100%. One of the things we tend to forget is that kids in movies can easily get annoying or bratty i.e. Anakin Skywalker but I felt truly sorry for her character. Her being 12 years old and able to handle such material is still fascinating to me. Yeah she had help from Eileen Dietz but alot of that was still her.

ParticipantGreat Work!! Ugh this is truly horrific to watch. To see these terrifying images on screen and hear the normal voice of a 12 year old girl trying to sound scary really does put a spin on this. Thanks for reminding us Justin how truly remarkable Mercedes Mccambridge’s contribution to the film really were.

ParticipantEXCELLENT!!! Great find, I remember seeing the Eileen Dietz laying in bed puking footage like 15 years ago but I haven’t seen it since then!!
GhettoExorcist
ParticipantAbsolutely not. I would love to hear it again.

ParticipantThanks for the kind words but I'm not even sure if I have that commentary anymore.

ParticipantWOW!! I remember reading about this ending. The studios seemed unhappy with the ending that Friedkin had given them and wanted to re-shoot a much happier and ending. Interesting read but feel that oddly enough the 73' ending feels the most complete. This “New” ending feels exactly what it is, a tacked on ending that is simply put there to reassure the audience that good has triumphed. The ending in TVYNS feels like it's going somewhere but suddenly the movie ends. The 73' ending continues the same tone of the rest of the film where as the other two feel like a pat on the back saying “don't worry, evil's punished”. In other words, I don't like it, but an interesting read.

ParticipantI have the 25th Anniversary Box Set and I believe it comes with the soundtrack you are referring to. While I do believe this is an incredibly creepy and atmospheric score I am sooo glad that Friedkin dismissed it. It doesn’t fit quite well with THIS movie however if you mixed this in with like a Dracula movie I think it would totally work. I think holding back the music in the film makes it all the more creepy and real.

ParticipantI have to agree with Horror 2. Morricone’s score is this film is friggin amazing. I’d buy it if it wasn’t $30 bucks everywhere I look…..
That being said….
I do think a variation on what was used in the first film or the same drawn back tone of music would probably have added to an overall creepiness that this film lacked.GhettoExorcist
ParticipantA very interesting question. I do not think of The Exorcist as a “cult” film due to the fact that it doesn’t have the same sensibility that certain films of that genre have such as Evil Dead or Dawn of the Dead. However, I do believe The Exorcist has a cult following like the Captain stated. You have to liken this film’s following you would to the Star Wars or Lord Of The Rings films. These are films that are discussed to no end and have been very successful financially. I think if you were to label The Exorcist as anything it is a Horror/Drama film that has a devoted “Cult” following.

ParticipantI guess a title card for the opening of the film is up to date but there really needs to be a title card for when Karras arrives home to see his mother. I remember hearing Friedkin saying that he wished he had put one up there because he was getting complaints from the audience about where it was taking place.

Participant-Insert Keanu Reeves “Whoooooaaa”

ParticipantCaptain,
I always knew that a dummy was used but for example in alot of magazines they will show a picture like this one

And say that is Linda Blair from the Exorcist but it is clearly a picture of the dummy that was used. You can tell by the eyes just so lifeless and even creepier than Linda is full possessed makeup.
