ParticipantI have one question: the lines they used to compare Linda and McCambridge were taken from the original sound on set or they were just some tests Linda did before?

I did a youtube search for exorcist and lynda blair talking etc and found another video of what appears to be the same thing.
ÂÂ
I also found one quite easily with both voices overdubbed, separated slightly. good stuff.
ÂÂ
The voice over definitely is superior of course and I found it one of the more creepy things about the movie. especially coming out of a twelve year olds mouth.

ParticipantSo painful to watch with Linda's voice! I will bet that Friedkin had to find an alternative day one of the shoots when listening to the dialogue. Listen to line, “That's much too vulgar a display of power, Karras!” It's very stilted and overwrought.

ParticipantI don't like to criticize Linda's acting either, hammer-horror. I thought she was wonderful and very natural in Born Innocent, Sarah T. and Sweet Hostage.

ParticipantListening to the scenes with Linda's voice (with the exception of the La plume de ma tante line), it gave me the sense of a little girl exhibiting the split personality as opposed to being possessed by a demon….which would lend credence to Fr. Karras' arguments against possession.  It certainly put a new context on the scenes listening with Linda's voice.

ÂÂ
Maybe I'm just too forgiving. LOL!

This is a video of the demon speaking in reverse but presented as normal.
ÂÂ
When it says “It is warm in the body” my hair stood up….yikes that is freaky even though I've been aware of what was being said for
many years….seeing it like this was cool.
ÂÂ
LOL
