ParticipantOver the weekend I had a sleepover and my friend wanted to watch The Exorcist for the first time. I didn’t say no. We started to watch it and I fell asleep at the party scene. The woke uo right at the “you know what she did?” scene, I gave my friend a fact about the book and movie. Dozed off again, woke up the scene when Karras first meets Regan, fell asleep. Woke up and it was the end! My friend asked how I could sleep though it and I just said “I don’t know”
Have you ever slept though it?

ParticipantI nodded off during the movies Mimic, Sleepy Hollow (<- har-de-har-har), and Fellowship Of The Ring, all while in the theatre. A friend of mine wanted to fast-forward the 'Karras meets his mother in her apartment' scene, but he got more caught up in the movie as it went on, I'd say around the 'sow is mine' scene and onwards, haha!

ParticipantI typically sleep through most Rob Zombie films … but that’s just me.

ParticipantI always try to avoid watching movies when I’m just about to fall asleep =P
There was a time though, when I was sleeping over at a friends house and fell asleep. I woke up to Regan saying ‘my bed was shaking’ (he put it on while I was asleep.. So it kinda counts as sleeping during the film haha. Now I try to avoid watching movies I like with my friends. :>October 28, 2010 at 7:28 PM #23698Steve Dunlap
ParticipantWhile I've never slept through The Exorcist, (It's just too engrossing a story for me to nod off to, lol.) I do have to say that when I do sleep, it's kinda wild that I do not flinch, or wake up in terror whenever I have dreams about Regan in full possessed mode. :) I'd dare say that several years ago, I'd finally conquered my demons (if you'll pardon the parlance) about this movie.

ParticipantI showed this pic to my neice & her bf and both loathed it. Had the option been open to them to sleep, I'm certain that they would have been mugging pillows. Instead, they unplugged the vhs tape in boredom at about the point the child was undergoing exams and watched the more fashionable & timely “A Nightmare on Elm Street” # 4 or 5. I would be interested in knowing what demographic enjoyed the re-release of “The Exorcist” most. Is it largely an older consumer base snapping up the blu ray copies of “The Exorcist”? Did “Exorcist: The Beginning” & “Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist” fail because the original “The Exorcist” is simply too far removed from todays generation of filmgoers. A rerun of “Family Guy” which aired earlier this week took a pop culture shot at “The Exorcist” which totally eluded the young people I work with. They were oblivious to the head spin & green vomit reference. If my neice was unplugging it in the mid eighties & a half dozen 20 something coworkers are largely unaware of it's existance, I'm thinking sleep is, sadly, an option.

I often fall asleep to old movies and i always make sure what I fall asleep to is light hearted. And The Exorcist doesn't quite qualify for that 🙂

ParticipantI hear ya, Mego.
When I pop in a movie to fall asleep to, it has to be something serene. Now, granted, The Exorcist has a quiet enough opening, but it's the stuff beyond it that would likely wake me up and keep me from going back to sleep. LOL!
When I fall asleep to a movie, it's usually something like StarGate, Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith, one of the Harry Potter movies, Rob Roy, or one of the Star Trek movies.

Funny story:
I have a screensaver I made up of a moving logo for Battlestar Galactica. So that was the only thing that showed up on my screensaver for my laptop. Well….I did my little Exorcist tribute, and a lot of the pics of the actors (especially Linda Blair, both pre-and full on possession mode) ended up on my “Pictures” document, which automatically became (unbeknownst to me) part of my screensaver.
Well, I don't know how the hell I did it, but I went to sleep one night, and every time I woke up, I always caught the Galactica segment of the screensaver sequence.
But one night I walked into my bedroom, and facing me on the computer was the demonic face of Regan…..damn near scared the bejeezus out of me.  So I quickly Exorcised those images from the screensaver segment, and placed them in a seperate document. LOL!

ParticipantI know what you mean, whenever I see possessed Regan, I want it to be a planned and braced for sighting 🙂
