ParticipantI always could tell the difference between the Dummy and Linda fully possessed something about those lifeless eyes on that dummy just terrify me. It would be very interesting to see it in person.

ParticipantIt’s very easily done nowadays with computer editing programs such as Final Cut Pro or Avid but like Cappy said back in the day it was much more difficult. The DP of a film is almost as important as a director especially when it comes to the technicality of a scene. I still think it’s a very underrated position in the film industry.

ParticipantI guess this proves that the blood was filmed on set.

ParticipantI also did hear that it was on display somewhere. Not sure where though. Not much help I know.

ParticipantAside from the extremely bad tacked on ending and the extra “subliminal” images I do prefer TVYNS. It feels a little more complete.

ParticipantGot my copy in the mail. I do think this is a pretty neat little documentary but only for hardcore fans such as us. The highlight of the documentary would have been something that most people wouldn’t give a crap about. It was actor Gabriel Mann is full Pazuzu/Captain Howdy makeup in a scene that didn’t make it to the final cut.

ParticipantIt doesn’t have a date but it sounds like you have the same copy as me.

ParticipantNo I’m not a dentist. I found it on ebay a bunch of years ago.

ParticipantIt was just some dental magazine that I’ve never heard of. It also had a pic of Jason Miller with his prosthetic teeth.

ParticipantI just got mine as well and was terribly underwhelmed. This article would have been good for someone who didn’t really know anything about The Exorcist or hadn’t seen FoG(to which almost every quote from the article was lifted from). The good thing about the issue is everything else but the Exorcist article. A good read for horror fans in general but nothing mouth watering for Exorcist fans.

ParticipantI don’t mean to brag but Cap got em from me. The dentist magazine that is pictured on the auction is something I got off of Ebay a long time ago. Ok sorry enough of my shameless self indulgence.

ParticipantThe Shining for sure. I still think Poltergeist and Jaws are still pretty scary movies that hold up.

ParticipantThanks for the bummer news. My copy is in the mail as we speak.

ParticipantI took a good hard look at the photo comparisons again and looked again at the footage. If you notice, in the FoG spiderwalk Linda Hager sp? looks very focused on getting her walk right. She is looking upwards or downwards depending on your pov to make sure her footing is appropriate. If you take a look at the second picture she is looking more straight ahead and looks to be in total agony as opposed to the first pic where she is very focused.
Here’s a little trick. Try and take a glass of water and tilt your neck back with the water in your mouth. I know personally I feel like I want to swallow it. This may not be the case for you but every time I felt like I was going to swallow it. Now imagine being upside down going down a flight of stairs and worry about if you are going to crash and hurt yourself and on top of all this, you have something in your mouth. Well first off, you wouldn’t want to make it even harder for yourself so you would want to keep your neck straight so any liquid in your mouth would hit the roof of your mouth not the back of your throat.
Also, I breathe through my mouth, so when my mouth is closed it is rather difficult to be comfortable and just breathe through my nose, it’s possible just not as easy as breathing through my mouth. Now imagine on top of all this you were a mouth breather who was not getting any air due to your positioning. I think I would have the same agonized look on my face that L.H. had. My conclusion, I think the blood was on stage instead of cgi.

ParticipantNot sure if this has been mentioned but here is my two cents. The footage was incredibly old when doing the documentary Fear Of God. The cast and crew had gone on to doing many other projects and films. Friedkin is notorious for inaccurate and false information. He also stated in the Fear of God documentary that he didn’t film a correct reaction shot from Ellen Burstyn so he couldn’t end the scene properly. This however is untrue as you see in TVYNS.
Also Friedkin refuses to acknowledge or even talk about the Eileen Dietz footage.
When the 25th Anniversary was released it obviously had some extra footage in it that no doubt had to be salvaged from the WB vaults. Probably some time during the findings they found this footage and kept it a secret because two years later the movie was rereleased in theaters with a couple of different scenes that weren’t mentioned in the FoG documentary. The blood looks real to me and I’d be impressed if it was CGId 27 years later.
So hypothetically if the blood was used on set we have a scene where Reagan comes down the stairs and screams. I guess thats a little bit scary but doesn’t nearly have the same effect as the blood. Also it has been acknowledged that CGI was used during part of that scene, i.e the hands and feet touching the stairs properly and the removal of the wires.
I dunno that’s just me though.
