Still, when I saw the thread’s title, I thought it was something much, much worse… something incomparably worse: namely, that the real news of the inevitable remake came in.

The San Fernando Valley “industry” has been doing these alleged “spoofs” for decades, but this one is probably the most pathetic yet… “Special edition”? “Behind the scenes”? Reading of the “script”? A commentary by the “director”? Can the cretin who made this “film” really be *so* delusional?

The worst nanosecond of “The Heretic” and “Beginning” was better than both “Saws” combined… (I hear there was a third one recently – I doubt it can be any better than its predecessors, but fortunately I managed to avoid it)

I imagined a corpse of “Zombie” floating in a pool filled with the bodies of all others responsible for all remakes of the past decade. That image was so nice that I reimagined it.

But seriously, 21% answered “yes”! Where are they? Come out, ye rotten, miserable scoundrels! Own up, and receive thy punishment from The Man: http://tinyurl.com/j4lsh

“If” there is a remake? What’s this “if” nonsense:

I did not think I would see a remake of a classic horror worse than Bay’s “Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003” so soon. I did now, with this year’s “0men” – “0” being far too high of a rating for this miserable antifilm.

See which films come above Exorcist, and especially which one is winning:

Nice one. I did that with a similar UK TV documentary on the “Omen” series, “The Curse of the Omen”…

It was not released, either, but someone recorded it and, well… http://www.fulldls.com/get_movies_3118

Too bad this Exorcist documentary didn’t make it there… :o)

Oh, “Saw” was not cliched. Calling this garbage “cliched” is giving it too much of a compliment.

In the recent outbreak of carbuncles that the remakes of classic horrors are, “Saw” was the “original” cancerous growth. The sequel was marginally better, mostly because it was a tweaked version of a completely unrelated script, and because it plagiarised less films than the first “Saw” had done…

The first and original entry will and forever remain the best, of course, although “The Final Conflict” is a superb piece of quiet and subtle horror, too, magnificently carried by Sam Neill and Jerry Goldsmith. “Damien II: The Serial Slasher” is, on the other hand, an insult to the series, barely better than that TV pseudosequel “Omen IV”, or the “Omen IV/V” books. Or, needless to say, than the remake is going to be…

“Dominion”. Flawed as it is, it’s superior to “Merrin II: Exorcise Harder”… (Even though there are quite a few scenes which work better and – oh my, oh my – are better directed in “Beginning” than they are in “Dominion” – one “Dominion” scene in particular is so atrociously ridiculous that it would probably be deemed too bad even for a Steven Seagal picture…)

However, not even in Beginning’s case do I really blame the director. Yes, Renny Harlin’s tepid direction is overall rather laughable, as are most of his cliched additions to the plot (most, but not all – a few are actually nothing short of brilliant), his infantile forced references to the original, and some of his cartoon characters (again, however, not all of them – the characterisation of some was actually handled or expanded better by Harlin).

No, the root of all evil is in both cases – as it is so often – the writing. One can make a bad film out of a good script, but one will not make a good film out of a bad script. For all that is wrong, Caleb Carr – who should stick to writing insulting e-mails – is to blame.

As for “Manson” – to whom it may concern… 🙂

To recreate the logos’ looks, one needs to spell the titles as:

    “eXOrcist
    the beginning”

    and

    “dOmiNiON
    pReQUEL TO THE EXORcisT”

    🙂

There always are certain possibilities… 😀

However, I would prefer if it could be done once and then kept up for some time, for all those interested… e.g. if someone could, say, set up an FTP for a while, with login info posted on these boards? I could upload it there then and it could remain accessible for other readers…

Until something of the sort, I will have this shared on Soulseek, whenever I’m there 🙂 – search for the track names above, or look for me in Soulseek’s channel #MovieMusic (although I rotate three different logins there – most often, though, I am online as “BentonQuest”)
