Saw VIII was a bit disappointing with revealing Dr Gordon's fate.

This movie does not fall into the Exorcist and Legion continuity/canon.

Given more thought on this, I hope the makers go into this as simply another screen adaptation of the novel rather than a remaking the movie. I hope the director doesn't look to the movie for inspiration but rather his own fathful take from the novel. No tubular bells nor any icon locations from movie.

Of course I hope a succesfull mini-series will lead to a sequel mini-series adaptation of Legion and this time using the same actors as Kinderman and Dyer to better connect the two stories.

Not many people consider the RedDragon movie a remake of the first version that was made in the 80s with Brian Cox playing Hanibal Lecter but simply another screen adaption of the original novel.

Sofia, thanks for the kind words.   I'm not sure that I'm “simple”, but I do strive to be “nice” and “humble”. :)  BTW, that was another nicely done video.   I left you some nice comments at the YouTube page. 🙂

As for my doing The Exorcist….it may be a while before I get back to it.  I've been so engrossed in my Battlestar Galactica project…building props, doing test animations, and such….it's going to be quite an undertaking.

Sofia,Steve, Thats some nifty work you've done with with those scenes from the Exorcist novels. What CGI software are you using?

Steve which version of Galactica is your production based on, the original or GINO?

I thought the original was okay.

I never saw the remake but I don’t need to watch it to know that it’s piece of crap remake made by no-talent hacks.

I somewhat agree with RatBoy’s idea above. If it were a completely new film, taking complete inspiration from the novel as apposed to just remaking Friedkin’s film, it MIGHT be half decent.

The trick would be to NOT call it ‘The Exorcist’.

And, no, ‘The Possession of Regan MacNeil’ doesn’t work, either.

How about calling it “William Peter Blatty’s The Exorcist”.

Om the other hand, My guess is Blatty and Freidkin are minimizing the potential damage by doing the remake/second screen adaptation themselves to prevent it from falling in the hands of the current no-talent, re-imaging hacks such as Michael Bay, Tim Burton and Rob Zombie.

It’s unavoidable that the studios will eventually make another adaptation of the original Exorcist with a no-talent hack at the helm to re-imagine it and market it as a remake for moronic Generatipn Y audience and having Blatty and Friedkin at the helm is the lesser of the two evils and may actually be good for those that like the novel better than the movie.

In don’t get why people get hung up about the dating of Merrin’s exorcism in Africa. I always assumed that he performed a number of exorcisms down the years.

That was my rationalization after watching E:TB.

My guess is, if E:TB was a hit, Morgan Creek would have made a sequel to the prequel about Merrin’s four month exorcism on the boy in Africa.

    Hi Bowden,

Yes, in the real actual location, Reagen’s window is way too far for Burke to be pushed down the stairs or Karres to jump from. Kudos to Friedkin for making it work on film.

I also noticed either the trees in the yard at the McNeal house are either larger or were possibly added by the current home owners to disguise the iconic location.

Considering the fact that I usually classify a production like this as simply another screen adaptation of the original novel instead of a remake, I see it as pointless.

In spite of original Exorcist author, William Blatty and original Exorcist director, William Friedkin involvement, I really have no interest in this production.

Even if all the original cast members never aged and are replaying their original roles, I’d have no interest.

What is the point in that?

Who’d want to see the original Exorcist in a 2010 era setting except for the idiotic snobby Generation Y audience that can’t view/appreciate the original 1973 version because to them, it’s too dated.

If the characters in a tv show or movies aren’t wearing the latest fashions or sporting an i-phone and have an angsty personality, the idiotic Generation viewers won’t be able to connect with these characters.

That is why the no-talent hacks in Hollywood are churning out remakes by the dozen. It’s to cater to the close-minded younger morons.

The younger generation are NOT has sophisticated and open-minded as we were when we were their age.

We can appreciate all kinds of classic literature and movies of any era.

But not the idiotic Generation Y viewers.

If a movie or TV show was produced 3 or more years prior, these morons won’t be able to sit through the entire presentation because it will look too dated.

Everything has to be shiny and new for them.
