ParticipantIt’s on the same track as W. P. Blatty’s so-called commentary.
Said commentary was a big disappointment to me, as Blatty just delivered an essay that was in no way keyed to the film.
Then he turns it over to the dueling demons, the cute little devil and the scabby old devil.
That’s as far as I listened, but when I came back to it the commentary track was silent, You could have probably heard his car start when he snuck away.

ParticipantMaybe the girl spent six weeks in a hospital, and they just stopped home briefly?

ParticipantBoring! 😉
I had pictured this mustache-twirling guy saying “Haw-haw-HAW . . . French Lobby Cards. Ooh-la-la!

ParticipantYou might never be able to *play* it, given the format, but, heck, I’ve bought a few obscure, standard laserdiscs that I hope to convert to DVD-R one day, if I can find a player to use.

ParticipantExorcist/2/3 played consecutively on some upper-band cable channel I’d never watched before, last month. I forget the name, sorry.
But it was the later restored version, wherein Father Burton survives.
The only way you can see the version where he dies is on Telemundo, the Spanish language channel!
[Edit: I checked: it was the FUSE Channel. Honest.]

ParticipantI think the nurse shouts “His goddam nose is broken,” if that’s a problem.

ParticipantDarth Vader.
Err, the scientist.

ParticipantI can go along with that, Captain. Friedkin’s was a rather good condensation of the book for 1973 audiences, but an even longer version could be worthwhile.

ParticipantFirst post here, though I’ve enjoyed reading the site for many months now.
I saw the film upon first release while I was in college. It made me very nervous!
Upon reading Blatty’s book about the movie, I was fascinated by his final script, but never figured I’d get a chance to see it.
I do believe that he had better instincts than Friedkin. The original was a powerful film, but it had a few flaws. I prefer the 2000 reworking.
