ParticipantI eagerly ripped open my copy when I received it on Oct 5th. Watched the theatrical cut that night. I made no adjustments to my Sony Bravia nor to my Blu-ray settings. It was stunningly beautiful, the color rich and the sound terrifying. However, I was disappointed to see that during the visit to Karras's mother's apartment (and only that scene) the blacks and dark parts of the scene were full of “static” or scratches. Could this be my TV or Blu-ray? Did anyone else have this issue? It was only noticeable in that scene. It's a dark scene in general, but I was shocked at the grainy fuzziness of it compared to the stunning clarity of the rest of the film. I'm going to watch EDC to see if it's also there. Another questionable moment was after Regan does her acrobatics on the bed and the two doctors arrive to sedate her, there's an insert shot of them coming at her with the needle. The scene is clear and colorful and then suddenly the close up of the doctors is dingy and orangeish, very noticeable. Again, is it just me? Overall though, a wonderful improvement. I'll never watch this film another way (and why would I?) Also, Regan's demonic eyes have never glowed more malevolently before! Thumbs up from me except for the apartment scene and insert shot of the doctors giving Regan an injection.
