ParticipantRenny Harlin is a hack twit who should never have been allowed to make a prequel to one of the classics of cinema. The error in age is probably attributable to the fact that he simply didn’t know what he was talking about. Did that seem harsh? I REALLY hated his movie.

ParticipantTowards the end of “Dominion”, a demonic looking Clara staggers about clutching a butcher knife as the sky vibrates with color. It approximates nicely the best work of Argento in “Suspiria” and for that alone, she gets my vote.

ParticipantHack as much as humanly possible then cut in all the bug attack footage from Irwin Allens’ Production of the “Swarm”. And add the giant grasshopper glowing over the ruined city from “Quatermass and the pit”

Participant“Bob” gives good possession in “Twin Peaks”…and the actor who played “Bob” later followed that up with possessing “Kimberly Shaw” in “Melrose Place”. Also, for the sheer loopy fun of it, the demonic possession of “Marlene” in “days of Our Lives” is worth a peep.

ParticipantFrom “Castle Freak” to “From Beyond”..from “Re Animator” to “Robo Jox”…this talented director truly spins gold from low-budget straw. Anyone have favorites from his body of work or associates of like Brian Yuzna? There’s always rumours of a 4rth “Herbert West” pic.

ParticipantLots. Thanks. Can’t find downloads yet but did find a cute “The Exorcist Vs The Antichist” scene for scene comparrison on youtube by GangreneWidescreen. Well worth a look for fans.

ParticipantA remake probably isn’t neccessary as the original “Ex 3” is still impactful although I’m always willing to shell out a few bucks on a sequel

ParticipantAgreed. At the time, Ebert really was vocal against the slasher genre and decried “ISOYG” as the lowest of the low and yet is an undeniably powerful film. Not unlike the viewing experience watching “Last House on the Left” and to a lesser extent the “Halloween” remake. As dispicable as the subject matter may be, “ISOYG” is well worth a look.

ParticipantDidn’t antisipate liking the remake by Zombie. While he has taste and knowledge in the horror genre, his earlier pics were far to derivitive and came off as pale imitations. That opening murder sequence involving a young MM beating to death a bullying jerk drew an unusal response from me; empathy. I should have felt nothing for these pretty unlikable charactors and viewed them contextually as slasher movie fodder. It was Zombies’ ability to extract that very personal response and carry thru on it til the end of the picture that elevates this one above the seven movies which proceeded it. It’s not as good a pic as the Carpenter classic but it’s very good. And the stunt casting was brilliant and respectful.

Participant“From Beyond”……..”Carnival of Souls”……..”Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?”…….”King Kong” (you know which one)……..”Mommie Dearest”

ParticipantIt’s like a jig saw puzzle putting together the “Drac”, “Frank” & disjointed “Mummys” but here goes…

ParticipantLove the “Psycho” series. The Bates charactor is unforgettable and the actor built on those good graces thru 1-4, layering on sympathy & depravity & black humor. Didn’t hate the remake and even got a kick out of Bud Cort in the blasphemous “Bates Motel” tv pilot.

ParticipantHated the “Son of Rosemary” book so much I threw it across the room! The tv pic “Look What’s Happened to Rosemary’s Baby” at least had Ruth Gordon to make it watchable. On a related topic, did anyone ever hear a nifty rumour about the death of “RB” producer William Castle? Rushed to the hospital with extreme abdominal pain he is alledged to have said; “For God’s Sake, Rosemary!-Put down the knife!”

ParticipantHave a fond spot in my heart for the “Hellraiser” series from the intital good one straight on thru those odd sequels after #4 that were derived from unrelated material & reworked to include “Hellraiser ” mythology. Similarly, I’m fond of the appauling “Howling” sequels.

ParticipantDidn’t dislike the “Omen” remake…it was, afterall a close copy. The leads seemed to young for the roles, like the casting of “Superman Returns”. The Omen I want to see is the goofy tv series pilot about the spirit of Damien possessing people by way of ectoplasmic barf. That’s entertainment!
