Congratulations, Ryan, on your nice 9th Configuration site. Sorry it took me so long before I visited.
Yeah, Sofi did well. The music, as you say, does resemble Bernard Herrmann’s (sp?) Psycho score. I understand that Herrmann was on the project at least long enought to suggest an organ-based score – I really don’t see how that could have worked very well.
Yeah, I read Wilson’s The Occult years ago… has some interesting ideas… seems that some kind of synchronicity sometimes happens…
Perhaps all of creation has been seeded with coded Exorcist messages… that wouldn’t constitute a paranoid view, would it? That would be too bad, as I’m rather fond of the idea. Next thing, I’ll see Fr Karras’s face in a taco!
Quite beautifully done. The debate will doubtless continue re: whether or not we “need” that final Vatican shot from The Beginning. Probably unnecessary for fans, but for the general public and new generations not so familiar with The Exorcist, it provides a nice segue into the Friedkin film’s visual depiction of Merrin. Again, nice blending from the final Dominion scene to the final Beginning scene.
Confession of dumbness: I didn’t know the literary reference of “Goneril”, I just thought it was some kind of old, odd, Anglo-Saxon or Germanic name. It’s taken all these years for you to enlighten me about the name.
