    Jon,

Search around the Discussion Forums here on the website. This question has already been posed and answered in several unique fashions. I think some of the answers are very compelling (for instance here). Sorry I can’t guide you directly to all of the specific blogs, but our host is working on that.

    Hi Hannah,

I was really trying to eliminate any kind of ambiguity regarding the word “cult” my viewpoint. Specifically, when used as a noun, “cult” can mean extremist, religious sect, rites, religions, etc.

However, as an adjective modifying the noun “movie” with the use of “cult,” can be a little dicey as well in that intended use of the word. For instance, as an adjective, “cult” can often be associated with a particular system of religious worship, especially with reference to its rites and ceremonies. “Cult movie” is of, for, or attracting a small group of devotees.

Therefore, I am saying I am a devotee of the film, and this website is a great place to read and share viewpoints about one of the most powerful films ever made. Additionally, I’m not a cult fan of any movie.

I like The Shining as well. Eyes Wide Shut had too many CGI’d inserted objects due to Kubrick’s death at post-production. IOW, I would have loved the film if it had the NC-17 rating as Kubrick envisioned. You can’t mess with perfection.

It ranks at the highest level on my own personal list of one of the greatest films ever made. As far as horror/mystery films, it wins hands down as the greatest film ever made.

Yikes, etrigan, we are of the same genre! I think if it scared you as much as it did me, we had some kind of understanding beyond our 12-year-old age range. I’m not saying we’re extremely smart, I’m saying we are (*&ing brilliant! 😉

Also, I really like this scene because it uses the tactics the Roman Polanski did in Rosemary’s Baby by shooting an entire scene from beginning to end with only one camera … very real and subtle.

Good catches Justin on the music, concerts, and songs. It is very laughable! 🙂

I just watched the scene again (for the 1000th time). ? Kinderman proposes that a very powerful man killed Burke first and then pushed him out of Regan’s window. Kinderman points out that Regan was the only one in the room. There are two important points that Blatty/Friedkin lets us in on: 1. Kinderman has already seen Karl on two occasions (at the entrance, and then again when Karl asks Chris, “Will there be anything else, Madame?” Kinderman can positively eliminate Karl as the powerful man because of his age and physical traits. 2. Regan was the only in the room when Burke was pushed from the window and she has already been eliminated because of her physical aspects. Kinderman knows nothing about Regan’s “illness” or strength when the demon takes over.

Chris’ red flag is right after Kinderman’s questioning about visitors between the time Ms. Spencer left and the time Chris returned home. After Kinderman has made all his points, hunches, and opinions, Chris scratches her head and says, “Judas Priest, just a second.” This is the great build up to Chris’ red flag that Regan killed Burke. IMHO, Chris uses her acting talents to hide the fact that she knows Regan did it while following Kinderman’s insights into the fact that he believes a powerful man did the killing.

I agree that it’s spammy, Ryan. All images have been lifted from other websites and data is from sources like Wikipedia. It’s just a thrown together site that has no endorsements by WPB as it says along the bottom. That’s just an opinion when I Google the text and find it on Wikipedia and the fact that I see “VIEWIMAGES” on one of the photos. Just another fan who found out how to use a html. 😉
