ParticipantLMAO! Too funny, Thermagus01 … I can a little Sammy Davis, Jr. in that guy now that you mention it! 🙂

ParticipantThermagus01,
I checked this out and I could see why you would believe this in one aspect: the image of the man in front is blurred, thus creating an illusion of the headgear being out of sync.
I believe you are referring to this point in time in the film (click the image below to enlarge). The only thing I really notice is that the Iraqi man on the right looks a lot Santa Claus and his eyes are focused on the camera lens. 🙂

ParticipantDoing great! Especially doing great now that WB has come to its senses about the original 1973 masterpiece being included on the Blu-ray! 🙂

ParticipantHey Sof,
Yes, indeed. I did read it. Thanks for your work and publishing mini-docs about our favorite film.

Participantjg, nice video. I like it when the interviewer asks what a director should “possess,” and then Miller continues on with the word in his answer. Interesting aspect for the question and answer.

ParticipantThese are just press-and-go image buttons stamped out on a hand-held device.
When the film was released, I was given an approximately 3-inch, black-and-white printed, circular sticker to be applied to your chest, much like a name tag. I still have it somewhere and it reads: “Nothing scares me, I’ve seen The Exorcist” or something very similar to those words.

ParticipantHi Daithi,
Yes. The full diary is located online and I have lost my bookmark. I do believe there is a blog posting somewhere on this site regarding the diary.
If you want further reading material, you may want to purchase Thomas B. Allen’s book Possessed. The diary is now included in the newer reprints, so check for this before you order here. I am not sure, but Captain Howdy could have a link to that particular book through Amazon on here. Therefore, I would suggest ordering the book through here to support this site.

ParticipantDear FTP,
Yes. I can see why you think there is something more to the eye in Dietz’s left hand (see below). However, if I recall correctly, Dick Smith said the vomit contraption actually connected behind Dietz’s head. This probably meant the contraption was completely out of sight, perhaps under the pillow which led to the powerful pump necessary. Of this I cannot be certain. I looked this picture over to find this crucial element of which you speak, but I can’t find anything out of place; e.g., intravenous tube strapped to the blue restraint board and the two pieces of medical tape to secure the IV in Regan’s arm should be there. Therefore, I am posting the pic of that particular scene for your perusal (hopefully, you will see something I can’t).
On another note, the very next time in the film that we see Regan’s left hand is when the restraining strap rips apart through “demonic rage” or whatever name you wish to call it. In this shot, notice the difference in the strap’s relationship to the hand and the lack of elements I indicated above. Compare the pictures and you will see that things do are out continuity context.
Click the pictures to enlarge if you wish.

ParticipantHmmm … or perhaps the Catholic church keeps things “shrouded” in mystery a little too much? Not really.
If Ronald Hunkeler wanted to come forward soon after the possession, he was under the scrutiny of his parents who made the right choices for their child.
If Hunkeler wanted to come forward when The Exorcist was released, perhaps he chose not to be in the public eye and chose his career at NASA as more important (albeit this “true story” has been on the table for discussion for many years about what a pubescent child can do for attention).
If he came forward today, I don’t feel he would have a much of a story. The book and movie of the “true story” have already been made.
He’s just not a cash cow, unless he releases a blow-by-blow detail that rivals the diary of Bowdern/Halloran.

ParticipantWell, the videos of the two exorcism films are well designed. Thanks for sharing.

ParticipantI envision the shirt design below in various flesh tones with the words “Help Me” along the midriff:

ParticipantIn my last house, I had a whole entertainment room dedicated to The Exorcist. Yes, it would creep folks out because I had one of the original Dick Smith molds of Linda Blair in demon makeup hanging up in an enclosed box on the wall.
If I can find the boxed-up materials of the signed autographs (even one with McCambridge in a candid shot), I’ll post them here.

ParticipantAgain, great post!
