ParticipantDamien,
I’m in grading hell, so why would you be pissed off? (Obviously, I’m having “mental connection” problems!)

ParticipantWelcome, Barry!
My local theater is doing midnight, 7:30, and 10:30 showings. I would venture out for the midnight one, but I wanted to see the audience reactions of some audience members who’ve probably never seen the flick before.
Thirty days and counting!

Eight edits and I still can’t get the scan in here. “Me thinks” Webshots sucks!

Participantetrigan,
You could have really blown that Reveal Spoiler if I hadn’t clicked on it. ๐ ๐
Maybe it doesn’t try to have The Exorcist’s ending, but the writers wanted audiences to go away with a question of whether Nell was demonically possessed or psychologically disturbed. Throw the “baby” into the fire and they just lost that toss-up question!

Have you checked into how rare the 1974 Digest 8mm print is? WOW!

It’s the only one I’ve ever found and I paid quite the price to get it!
Cap, I can imagine. Just think of its value as appreciating every day. There will be so many hardcore fans willing to pay a hefty price for your copy when The Exorcist hits 50!

ParticipantAllBahianGirl,
The basis of everything is relative to a particular situation or the narrative behind that particular situation combined with the beliefs held by that individual. If you believe you experienced true cases of demonic possession, then you did based on the labeling within your organized religion(s).
Labeling abnormal behavior from a scientific viewpoint is what I believe in. For instance, the molestation of the boy you are speaking of should certainly account for various types of abnormal behavior; i.e., including, but not limited to, speaking in a guttural tone. If a suggestion that the boy is possessed came from any single member of the congregation, that label can sometimes be the only explanation for his behavior.
On that point, this is where I separate: I would seek psychiatric assistance versus exposing any sexually molested individual to another traumatizing event such as the rites of exorcism.
If sex was one of the ways in which demons could be transferred to a human being, then our world is in a lot trouble. ๐

ParticipantNo problem, Cap. You’re right about all of us fans. There’s so much going on now that I have a hard time keeping up with all the great news about this event and the BR release.
It’s sure to be a good time over the next few weeks!

ParticipantGuys, don’t feel bad about how many copies you have … I still have an old Beta somewhere packed boxes! So, I’m a sucker for all the new covers or an added feature here and there.

ParticipantOh, friends have said commercials are running on television about this event, but I haven’t seen one yet because I rarely watch the TV. If I have it playing in the background, I often hear The Last Exorcism commercials after 9:00PM. Pretty heavy on the advertising for that one.

ParticipantYou may want to check out “Marjoe,” the 1972 Academy Award winning documentary about evangelism from a “forced-to-be evangelist’s” point of view. It is enlightening to say the least.
Ten parts, starting with part 1 here.

ParticipantLuckily, my theater is only 10 minutes away. I just purchased my tickets online at Cinemark with the help of an employee there.
FYI from John at Cinemark: Recommended arrival time – no later than 7:00PM. Starting time 7:30PM; ending time 10:00PM. Sony 4K HD Projector in their location; some NCG Fathoms will have a streaming multi-cast using HD projectors (depending on their location). Ticket price $12.50 each in my area (this is great because it’s shown in this Cinemark’s only NCM Fathom Sony 4K HD theater).
What an excellent day for an exorcism on September 30, 2010!

PS: Yes! I’m taking a camera just in case (as long as I’m not barred from doing so!).
