I know (slap my hand) that I should not post a link. But, I purchased this Tattler and posted pictures from it on here. I paid under $20.00 and this guy wants $199.99 + $10.50 for S&H! Yeesh. Maybe I should retract my pictures and sell them instead!

Link (temporary of course or discarded by the Cap for being bad).

etrigan, Linda Hager probably had a hard time keeping the fake blood in her mouth. I can't even image trying to do that walk at any other pace than super-fast! Although, i agree with you that it does look rather sped up.

Yes, I was lazy in taking this pic of the “tip of the iceberg” of some of the items I (and my now deceased father) collected on The Exorcist. This box of some trinkets was at my fingertips when I was looking for the 25th Anniversary Box Set to see who wrote that booklet. The one in the top corner talks about Kermode, yet doesn't list the author although it goes into some depth about the rites of exorcism (something like that, I only scanned through it) and the key players.

My favorite piece is the holy water bottle that my father purchased in the mid-70s from a memorabilia collector. The COA is located in yet another box in a binder wrapped in acid-free paper. My father was an even bigger collector of memorabilia than me … too bad I lost the original Disney watches in my house fire.

Thanks, Cap. I thought it was on the home page when you did the poll. It would be great to see the numbers.

PS: I love the new pics below our avatars! Speaking of avatars, Justin has outdone himself! Very cool!  Cool

Ha, I've yet to pop in the original and that is my favorite version! Now that's a shame on me! However, I figured that WB just used the EDC and cut out the extraneous crap from it.

BTW, wasn't there a poll on here at one time about which version folks liked?

Guys, I know I've been hard on Friedkin before … and he deserves it to say the least and now:

In an issue of Rue Morgue he claims the bloody shot was from his “personal collection” and that he “saw it in the first showing of the film.” Not entirely sure what he means by that, but it sounds like BS.” Agreed if he was trying to flesh that one out.  Yell

I honestly thought Kermode had full access to the vaults as he repeated over the years and that includes his statements in the FOG documentary. Apparently not. I can see Justin's points about the Burstyn reactions for both alternative versions; one includes that of Sharon and Chris. I can also see the Cap's version of this “damned bloody variant” as being a realistic probability for the 2000 release. I'm sure WB probably has even more footage hidden in the catacombs to spring upon us in a few years.

Now, let's talk about that vomit apparatus that Blair claims she wore!  Wink

Whew … thanks for the update on the pic. I thought I was seeing things.  Laughing

Take a look at the above post about the current eBay auction. The thing I remember is that this soft-cover book didn't have Kermode's name on it. My box set included this and the smaller BFI Modern Kermode book.

Let me know what you find out … then I'll go digging for the box sets.

    Justin,

The book (duh) that looks like this one?

Postscript: The link to this item located here. I had several copies of this at one time all signed by Blair on the Senitype. I would venture to say without 100% certainty that this copy is also signed by Blair. The seller guarantees it is new and “The Shrinkwrap Is Slightly Torn On The Side; It Still Remains On The Box, You'll Be The First To Remove It Completely.” Chuckles from a professional!

    Justin,

Post some pics of this when you get it. I believe I have a version of this buried in a packing box. You can “ring some bells in my head” when you get it. Honestly, I'm a little ashamed at the stuff I bought over the years and just threw them in packing boxes when I moved. They will be wonderful memorabilia when I have the strength and time to unbury the goods.

BTW, didn't someone post an exact picture of this BR saying it belonged to them? Look here. Maybe we have a CH.com fan and eBay seller all in one?

I too enjoy Kermode's book. I only wish he would write a more in-depth version when the film celebrates its 40th birthday. Cap, I believe we'll see a 40th anniversary edition of The Exorcist and then the 50th anniversary edition and then …

I really didn't expect the FOG to be any different than what it was in 2000. However, I too would have enjoyed an updated version.

Think about how great a 40th Anniversary Edition of The Exorcist in a hologram box set would be in the evil year of 13?

PS: My BR has something to note on the Special Features for the BTS material. I have a box to click on for commentary by Friedkin and then I have a choice for subtitles on that particular screen. I can then choose a second radial button for “O without subtitles.” However, the first radial button is a choice to include subtitles and the only choice is the Asian text right before the “O without subtitles.” Anyone get this, too?

    Hey Greg,

It is good to see you back on here! Unfortunately, the members you mentioned haven't been on here for a while.

This is really a great year for The Exorcist, isn't it? It's been great to see the re-release on the big screen and have the BR along with the “Roizman Tapes!”

There have been big learnings from the “RT” for me: Linda Blair also used the vomit apparatus … I had no clue until Roizman and Blair concurred about it. The other is the filming of bloody spiderwalk. On the latter, my approach was to play the devil's advocate (yes, pun intended). I'm not finding too many, “Nanny, nanny, nanny … you were wrong!,” but I believe we have a more mature mentality on CaptainHowdy.com.  Wink

I'm thinking very hard about what topic I can use as a critical analysis of disbelief. I could venture out to the fact that no one ever mentioned that Blair wore that sickening vomit apparatus. Yet, 37 years, Dick Smith created one for her as well and she was filmed performing the feat. Oh, well …

After all, “I like to talk film; discuss; to critique.”

    Welcome back, Greg.

Of all the things I own, my most prized possession (pun intended) would have to be the 8mm digest print of the film. They're very rare and the cut is extremely unique.

Having said that, I still haven't actually seen the print. I'm arranging to have it screened and record the projection very soon.

Cap, that will make a nice edition if you can add it on here!

Pretty easy to get her autograph then, hey FB? 😉

Yeah, it's very easy to get Aunt Ellen's autograph. In fact, I recently wallpaper a bedroom in my house and made her sign her name over a thousand times (at least) so that I could be the only person in the world to have an autographed Ellen Burstyn room.  Money mouth
