Well Justin, if this catches on, maybe WB will satisfy both of us. Or, maybe I could just paint the blood on myself … just for me. After all, that blood was CGI’d too, so maybe I’m just being goofy on why I liked it version the original version with Reagan turning around with a snake tongue flicking it out at Chris and Sharon. If you’ve seen it, it’s ridiculous! 🙂

I wonder if Blair would receive royalties at this point if the likeness is dead on? I know from experience with Warner Brothers that they send out their copyright police and do it quickly, but it seems that after this many decades after the making the film, that Blair would be a good position to receive some kind of compensation. I know, I know, she didn’t receive a dime in royalties for the film and she signed away her rights when she appeared in the film, but when it comes to figurines, I wonder if that crosses the line for an actor? Of course, figurines (IMHO) never look like the real thing? I have all the Alien figures and they never really as good as what’s depicted in the ad or on the box because they are mass-produced in a foreign country by okay “artists.” My only treasure from Aliens is the actual chest burster! 🙂 Now, WB, don’t get cheap and clean up your act on the figurine and give us a real look alike and pay Blair some royalties for her likeness. Columbiancannon: “I WILL FIND A REGULAR BARBIE DOLL AND FLIP IT OVER AND PUT PJ’S ON IT AND MAKE MY OWN LIL STAIRS, SAVE MYSELF 200 DOLLARS.” I’m with you unless this box set is the thrill it’s supposed to be.

What gives with the photos here selling at close the $300.00? I know they’re supposed to be a gift to Al Taylor (whoever that is), but why on earth would Dick Smith go to the trouble of taking POLAROIDS!?! of pictures that have been out there since the movie was made? Hmmm … leaves me thinking the same thing as GhettoExorcist!

colombiancannon … I’ve had to pay up to $200.00 for Alien crap because it was limited edition. I’m sure you’re right that these will probably run in the $20.00 range and be painted so poorly that it wouldn’t matter if the figurine looked exactly like Blair. Also, does anyone find it interesting that they didn’t do this figurine with the blood pouring from the mouth, like that in TE:TVYNS (which was CGI’d to death!)?

Sorry to say it too: The Exorcist. After it was released, Linda was a child star without a real future in “Hollyweird.” It’s sad because she was nominated for an Oscar, but knocked out of winning because of the Mercedes McCambridge feud that was going on (Friedkin or his team should have made sure everything was handled through lawyers to seal every crack about McCambridge, but failed to do so). I guess the Academy voters couldn’t get past that what they were seeing was real acting and that Mercedes was the voice (albeit Mercedes had an incredible voice for this part). Duel ownership of a role just put Blair into the “I can’t be a Jodie Foster” field … and that’s ashamed. Who else could we even think of to do the part WITH a voice like Mercedes McCambridge? Couldn’t happen unless they hired a 40-year-old little person who chain-smoked and drank whiskey all day long! 🙂

I agree with Ghetto from the psych point. Also, the film constantly reminds of the physical phenom that the human body can withstand. There are several build-ups to this (albeit sometimes benign) in which the doctors are constantly reminding Chris that the problem with her daughter isn’t her brain, it’s her bed; Regan’s able to “lift” a 220-pound psychiatrist off the ground by his crotch; “a 90-pound woman sees her child pinned beneath a car and she lifts it off to save her …” So, put two and two together and I think we may have a winning combo of why Regan’s head can do a 360. Comparison: Regan’s eyes rolling so far back into her head that the orbital muscles would rip away in a “normal” human to that of a 360 head spin. The is made to inspire us with visceral effects and you like this one too.

Either choice is good with me. But von Sydow coming back would be the best in my eyes. But, I too doubt it. Anyway, I’m against the remake and my editorial above is nothing more than poking holes in a ridiculous remake.

What a great string here. I’m very in favor of columbiacannon’s idea. He seems to make sense to me and has replied in my string.

Also, can you image if we used the actors of yore to be in the remake Exorcist? Perhaps we could have:

    Linda Blair as Sharon Spencer
Max von Sydow as Father Merrin (now that he really is old enough without the makeup)
Ellen Burstyn as Willi or Karras’ Mother (what a waste of talent if she played either part, but she’s known for cameos)
Father O’Malley as Tom, President of University
Pete Materson as Dr. Barringer, Clinic Director (as reprise of his original role)
Arthur Storch as the Psychiatrist (as reprise of his original role)
Ron Faber as Chuck, Assistant Director / Demonic Voice (another reprise)
Donna Mitchell as Party Guest, Mary Jo Perrin (another reprise)
Roy Cooper as the Jesuit Dean (another reprise)
Bill Blatty gets his cameo back

Anyone else? I think the remainder are either dead or too old or no longer in entertainment.

    Hi Colobiancannon:

I’m sure there’s a TIN Man Sci-Fi Channel (production? – or – viewing?), just like The Wiz that was a royal loser reinvented with A-A performers. I just hope we can steer clear of classics that should not be tainted.

Thanks for your reply. I’ll keep an eye for other posts.
