Participantdsea, the window cards were usually posted throughout the theaters in multiplexes. It was another way to entice more moviegoers to see the film. Plus, they did actually use them in the windows and on doors on the outside of theaters. Ah, the good old days. 🙂

ParticipantWould like to see this, but “The URL contained a malformed video ID.” 🙁

ParticipantMuddy, I would like to hear both Blatty and Friedkin commenting on various scenes together, too. The commentary on the 25th by Friedkin was just revolting … he only (and many times very wrongly) rehashed the scenes like he was seeing them for the first time ever. I didn’t learn anything new from Friedkin and I could have commented better and gave more background information than he did. So, let’s vote for a Blatty/Friedkin duo or just leave Friedkin out altogether.

ParticipantWell said, RB!

ParticipantNo way RB, you’re on target as far I’m concerned. In face, you I and have agreed on this point a lot. I think in an earlier post I mentioned seeing 18-20 y-o’s coming out the theater after seeing TVNS and making nasty comments about The Exorcist: TVYNS. Granted, I am assuming these folks were seeing The Exorcist for the first time whether it be the original or the TVYNS.
On the original WB website, I was a beta blogger for them and was excited about seeing updated version of The Exorcist that included the infamous Spider Walk. And, then, I saw what someone or some folks at WB did to the original with all the CGI garbage; e.g., overlaying Captain Howdy’s face on Regan’s face during the hypnosis scene; putting CH’s face on the vent over the stove; imposing yet another image of Pazuzu’s image on Regan’s bedroom wall). All, totally unnecessary! I entitled my blog entry as, “Disfiguring the Mona Lisa of Horror Films.” I was, needless to say, banned from the site using my blog name. Granted I could have went back on as another user, but I thought, “Why?” They’re making money and who am I to really judge that harshly. But, I was so unhappy that WB felt CGI was needed to make this great film “tech savvy” that it was a sorry excuse for an kind of updating. Put the 12 missing minutes back in and leave it at that.
So, yes! You’re third documentary title covers just everything that I would like to see it titled as well! 😉 Great points all around!

ParticipantThis is actually a theater window card … I have one somewhere in my treasures. They’re 8.5″x11″ and there was a series of about 12 that WB distributed to theaters when The Exorcist was released.

ParticipantThanks, Lena! It has about five pictures combined in PhotoShop with lots of flips and blurs and highlights, yadda, yadda, yadda. I thought the Cap would put it under Fan Art, but I guess it’s not that swift! 😉

ParticipantMaybe the priest has a split personality 🙂

ParticipantDitto, Sofia. I’d even like the D.C. stuff even though the sound is missing … they can certainly added more music (like Lilo’s stuff that was thrown out!). If we had all the intended Blatty/Friedkin scenes, I’m sure it would help with some perspectives; i.e., building Regan’s character up a little more prior to the possession. But, alas, WB made them cut it down to two hours for the original and only added back about 12 minutes for TVYNS.

ParticipantLena, it’s not new. It’s an old promo movie window card that’s been around since the movie was released.
As an aside: notice that Regan’s face is not facing the camera … WB didn’t let the “secret face” of Regan out to the public to play into people’s curiosity (and, of course, increase sales). In fact, if I recall correctly, her face was banned by the MPAA in advertising of all types including trailers … I just can’t remember were I read that recently. The only trailer I can remember having both Regan’s possessed face and Pazuzu’s is the one black-and-white version that has very quick flashes. You can see it on WB’s homepage under The Exorcist.

ParticipantI agree with my other fellow Captain Howdy fans … I think we just love the movie because of the author, director, screenplay, and the very talented actors.

ParticipantOkay … so how do we post .jpgs. .gifs, animated .gifs, etc. “in” our actual postings? I want to create a .jpg of the silver teaspoon reflections, but I can’t figure it out … or maybe you have to have permission?

ParticipantOne more try … then the silver teaspoon … in time … in time!

ParticipantHey JP,
Yes … it’s pretty cool since most of us never look for things that are sometimes so obvious … just like the ping pong paddle and ball not being in sync in continuity. I still wish I knew what the heck folks are referring to when they are talking about the Ouija Board pointing to one letter and then pointing to another on its own.
