Trying to use an American Airlines travel credit on a new booking stopped at the payment stage even though the credit still appears valid in the account. The itinerary is within the listed dates, so I want to know whether the issue is tied to the fare type or the way the credit was issued. I’d include the credit reference, expiration date, route, and the message shown at checkout so support can look at the exact restriction.

Travel credits can be confusing when the account still shows a valid balance but the new booking stops at payment. I write down the credit reference, expiration date, route, fare type, and the exact message shown at checkout. Keeping the itinerary details together helps separate an eligibility restriction from a simple payment-page issue. For the support route, I save https://american-airlines.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html within the credit details and booking screen. That gives the agent the specific restriction to review without turning the request into a general question about the whole reservation.

Credits can look valid in the account and still fail at checkout, so the exact error message is probably the most useful thing to save. Route, fare type, expiration date, and credit reference should make it easier to tell whether the issue is eligibility or just the payment flow.
