ParticipantI saw it was going to be on tonight, Saturday, at 7:30 PMÂ ET. I thought I would let you guys know.

Â
And, if you have HDTV, then woo! I've seen the HD commercials on TV and they look AMAZING!

ParticipantSeeing the movie on blu-ray is quite the experience. It looks as if it were shot just last year, the restoration of the film quality is so good. 🙂

ParticipantThe movie looked great, but Spike edited the crap out of the movie.Â

I thought the bleeping was a little bit funny.

ParticipantI was glad to see they aired the original version. SPIKE blanked out certain words like “fuck” in the repeating “____ me” scene. Censorhip at its worst because you could read Regan's lips so easily that it was funny. Too bad they didn't insert, “Your mother rots in hell!” with Friedkin's old voiceover from the original TV-14 version.

ParticipantI was a little mad when there were no “new” lines. Oh well. At least it was on tv!

ParticipantYes, kind of a bummer on that one. I was hoping that SPIKE would do a decent job with the censorship/editing although the televised versions on “regular” cable are fun to watch to see how they handle the film.

ParticipantI hope The Exorcist is on cable TV again, censored differently. It's fun to see how different networks censor things.

ParticipantI agree. I really thought SPIKE would get away with much more considering their status on cable tv, but they attract too many powerful advertisers. Maybe they can reconfigure “fuck me” to “hunch me.”

ParticipantI really wish it would air on HBO instead, they dont censor at all.

ParticipantThat's true. I saw it back in the late 70's on HBO and even they had an additional warning before they aired it. I guess HBO could care less about airing it again because TVYNS never hit their listings.
