ParticipantWell thats a Matter of opinion for some people, I do find it easier to st through the Heretic than The Beginning.
The Beginning just makes me want to put a Gun to my HeadMarch 27, 2007 at 11:59 PM #16760Father Lamont
ParticipantWell that sounds reassuring! I still am looking forward to seeing it.

KeymasterI have a soft spot for The Heretic. At least it has its merits in places. The Beginning is just plain awful.

ParticipantI have an idea. Lets list some high pints of “The Heretic.” List three. I will start. (PS. QUIT SAYING THE MUSIC AND CINEMATOGRAPHY, EVERYONE KNOWS THEY ARE GREAT)
1. Linda Blair does a pretty good job of carrying on her role.
2. Blair’s dream scene is done really well. “Regan, Come Regan. We’re going flying. Far, far away.”
3. It has a similar tone to the first film.

Keymaster1. Linda Blair
2. Linda Blair’s gorgeous eyes
3. Linda Blair’s breastsI will answer honestly re: film critique later… but these are what MAKE Heretic watchable for me.

ParticipantWell that’s about mature don’t you think! She was seventeen for God’s sake! LOL. But no, what (aside from Blair) was good about the movie?

ParticipantI think the only good thing about Ex III: Heretic was the brief scenes of Merrin in Africa – VERY brief – the scenes prior to Kokumo’s exorcism where Merrin is snapping pictures and the locusts swarm. Although obviously a soundstage-cum-sfx scene – not shot outdoors and certainly not in Africa – it had a certain power – which was then ruined by the utterly comic exorcism in the rock church. But for a few seconds, Heretic rose above itself – only to have Boorman drag it back down again.

ParticipantObvious correction: s/b Ex II the Heretic.

ParticipantI have a book abou horror movies. I read it a lot. There is a chapter of the Exorcist. In it, it says:
The Exorcist was successful enough to spawn three sequels: Exorcist II (the bad), The Exorcist III (the good) and Exorcist: The Beginning (the ugly.)
Just thought that was funny.
P.S. IS THE HERETIC REALLY BETTER THAN ETB? -
