Before picking new travel dates, I opened an older WestJet credit and realized the wording leaves two different deadlines in my head: when the booking must be made and when the actual trip must happen. The value is still visible in the account. I only need to sort out those rules, plus whether the remaining amount can be combined with another payment if the new ticket costs more. I’d also mention the original credit date so there is no ambiguity.

Travel credits are easier to use when I separate the date the credit must be applied from the date the new trip can actually happen. I once saved the original credit email because the account page showed shorter wording than the first notice. Once that is clear, I ask about WestJet phone number alongside the issue date, current value, and price of the new ticket. I’d also note whether another payment method is available if the new fare costs more. That creates a simple timeline and keeps the conversation focused on the credit rules rather than the rest of the booking.

Voucher rules are much easier to understand when the use-by date and travel date are treated separately. Saving the original email sounds especially useful because account pages often shorten the wording. Keeping the value and new fare together should make any follow-up much more precise.
