ParticipantIf all goes well, I'll be able to show you what else I've been doing when I'm not rockin' Bourbon St., or making Exorcist excerpts.
This is obviously a work in progress.  I am building the Colonial battlestar from Battlestar Galactica, the original 1978 series (although I love both the '78 and recent series). The program I am using is called “Blender”. It is a free 3D modeling app, and it is incredibly powerful.  I am making the model in Blender, and then converting it and porting it over to iClone (the program I used to make my Exorcist excerpts.)

ParticipantSure is. 🙂 Is this the animated web series you mentioned in your youtube channel?Â

ParticipantIt's going to be part of it, yes.  Now that I have this more accurized ship built, and know a few more things about the app I used to build it, I'm going to try and build some other models before I get back into the animation.  All the ships I'd built before using iClone looked decent, but were very flat.  Now I can do physical details, and make them look more lifelike. 🙂

ParticipantWell, here she is, pretty much completed….a Colonial Battlestar…namely, the Galactica. I was able to make nameplates for Galactica, Pegasus, Atlantia, Rycon, Columbia, and Solaria.
I think she turned out rather nicely. My first model I've ever built with an advanced modeling app….Blender.  Â
This was a fun model to build….and quite a tough one for my first, as battlestars and star destroyers are among the most greebled physical models out there.   For reference, I used my 2 inch Konami Galactica and Pegasus miniatures, as well as online photo references.
This version will appear in an animation soon.
I hope you'll like this 🙂

ParticipantThank you, my friend. 🙂
Â
I do plan to do a little more refining to it. A friend of mine recommended bevelling some of the edges. The way it would catch the lighting with bevelled edges would make it look even more realistic. 🙂
Â
I am currently working on the Cylon basestar (the battlestar's nemesis). I should be able to finish it in half the time it took me to make the battlestar.

ParticipantCan't wait to see it, Steve! It looks realistic enough to me!
