OMG!!!!! Can you really do THAT?! Ok, where could I get the current demo version of iClone??
What do you think of these pictures:

 

The photo of her seated on the chair is Linda (wearing the dotted dress) but I cloned Sachi's eye to her face and also edited it a bit to make her look like Sachi – and I think she does. Can you create the animated Regan from this one??

Well, I found a good straight on face shot of Shirley….so making Chris in her image ought not be difficult.

Sachi is much more difficult. I could not find any straight on face shots of her at the right age.

 

Interesting note of trivia:  Apparently the image on the 70's novelization of The Exorcist is actually a distorted image of Sachi MacLaine

1.  Buy the program Magix Movie Edit Pro 17….it comes with a demo version of iClone 4.

 Have you read William Peter Blatty on The Exorcist- From Novel to Film? (1974) He writes about the rumors of that blurred pic of the girl on the cover being Sachi. Its funny , though. Shirley is convinced that Blatty stole a photo of Sachi from her house for the cover but Blatty has always denied it. 😉 Brb.. I'm fixing something to eat. 😀

A:   I don't know if iClone is cross compatible with the Sims games.  I never really monkeyed with the Sims, so I cannot speak to that experience.

A:Well, when I used the face of Linda Blair on the character model, it was of Regan at the appropriate age in the film.  Unfortunately, cherub-like faces don't always translate well in iClone.   I'll try to see if I can make her a look even younger in my next project, but I am kinda partial to the Linda Blair Regan.  I did reduce her size to where she might roughly be around 5 ft tall, to make her smaller than her mom and the priests.

 

SOFIA Q:

OH- and, how did you make her levitate?? I wish that was possible with The Sims game!

 

A:  Because she was a manipulatable object in iClone, I can just make her rise on the Z axis at will.   Keyframing, that kind of thing.  Sims is a game where you just have characters interact….so it's not really an animation control scenario.   iClone is an animation program, so you can make your characters and objects do pretty much whatever you want.   I even tried to get the “Captain Howdy” face to appear the very first time you see the demonic Regan in my video, but it didn't come through quite like I'd hoped…but, I have other options available the next time I attempt that.

Oh, I don't remember a 'Captain Howdy' face the first I see the demonic Regan in your video! I'll watch it again.. I think I've already watched it 4 times lol.. I showed it to my brother as well. He loved it!

Chris looked up and froze.
Gliding spiderlike, rapidly, close behind Sharon, her body arched backward in a bow with her head almost touching her feet, was Regan, her tongue flicking quickly in and out of her mouth while she hissed sibilantly like a serpent.
“Sharon?” Chris said numbly, still staring at Regan.
Sharon stopped. So did Regan. Sharon turned and saw nothing. And then screamed as she felt Regan's tongue snaking out at her ankle.
Chris whitened. “Call that doctor and get him out of bed! Get him now!”
Wherever Sharon moved, Regan would follow.

I just downloaded the demo version of iClone but…my gosh…it's so complex. I'm not even understanding how to import Shirley & Sachi's pictures and make them 3d animated! lol

As for the scene you excerpted, I now have the novel….so there's actually a couple of scenes I'm going to focus on rendering….the spiderwalk scene is one….and the tape recording scene between Karras and the demon being another.

 

I'll do the best possible render I can for those scenes. 🙂

Now I'm officially PISSED OFF!

 

Hours of work into building Regan's bedroom…..up in a flash!   The project file corrupted!  Now I have to rebuild her bedroom.  (I knew I shoulda saved it as a set piece as well as a project.

Oh, well.  I should be able to reconstruct it quickly, and add it back onto the house set piece I downloaded. Thankfully, I saved the characters individually…so that's a good thing. 🙂

Just the inconvenience of it all.

CAN'T Wait to see that!!! What voice will you use for the demon's lines? Most of what they say in the novel was left out from the movie…

Hi, Sofia,

 

   I was able to reconstruct Regan's room rather quickly, so I'm back on track.

 

   I'll be using my own voice for both the demon and Fr. Karras.  (I think I do a much better demon than I can Karras).

Because I kinda skipped over one part (quite by accident), I had to take a slight turn in part of the scene to accommodate a certain part….but it's minor.

 

  I hadn't done the Sofia and Sachi Chris and Regan yet, but I will. :)
