I was wondering if anybody knows who drives the cab that Father Merrin is in……to me, it looks like Billy Friedkin.  Can anybody out there confirm this?  Thanks.

I'm afraid it's just an actor and not Friedkin. It sounds too close to the Hitchcock cameos and I would believe someone on the set, including the ego-centered Friedkin, would have mentioned it after the fact. However, I think it's a clever idea!

On another note of trivia, the demon mask used in the movie Onibaba (1964) inspired William Friedkin to use a similar design for the makeup in subliminal shots of a white-faced demon, better known as Captain Howdy.

Now I thought I saw Mr. Friedkin in the “movie shoot” scene, I think he  was talking with Burke Dennings, arguing over a point in the “movie”.

That was actually Mr. Blatty in The Exorcist on the fake movie set “Crash Course.” Blatty wrote the lines for himself as you recall.

LOL, Steve. Reread the posts above. It was the writer, Mr. Blatty, not the director, Mr. Friedkin, in that scene. Wink

Did you know Linda Blair's mother plays the nurse who pops her head in when the doctors are reviewing Regan's x-rays? She says, “Excuse me, doctors. Chris MacNeil is on the phone. She says it's urgent.” I've always wondered if that was some kind of payoff for what they were putting or about to put her daughter through on that set.

Now that I did not know. 🙂

But that would be an interesting insight. LOL!

I can't remember where I read it, but apparently it is Friedkin in the car. It looks like him if you pause the Blu-ray, too.

It looks exactly like him…..I'd bet money on it.

One thing I always wondered about the women in the psychiatric ward thats keeping Mother Karras…

I'm guessing the ones who physically interacted with Damien were actresses, while the others really were mentally handicapped.  Or maybe they were all actresses, or all genuine patients? (probably the latter, Friedkin had a habit of using non-actors). The one mouthing and drawing pictures on the bed with her finger is the most disturbing.

How did Friedkin get permission to film those women?  They obviously weren't of sound mind to sign release forms or whatnot.

Honestly, I believe the Hitchcock-like cameo that Friedkin would have made in the film would have come up somehwere along the way. It would be a nice piece of trivia. That scene is so iconic it would make a lot of sense for Friedkin to be a part of it although I've never seen or read that Friedkin ever appeared in any film, including his own. To me, even on blu-ray, it doesn't look like Friedkin at all.

I've often wondered the same thing about the women in the asylum. Of course, I know a few actresses who would die to play those parts, too!

I've never looked twice at the driver. I'll have to check this out, could be an interesting find. *Inserts the Blu-ray*

Cap, if you squint really hard while wearing sunglasses, it definitely looks like Friedkin … or the camera guy.
