As a movie, The Heretic holds up Ok, but as a sequel to possibly the greatest film ever made, it failed spectacularly, I think the bigger problems were in casting, this was not a Richard Burton type film, the theme of the film was interesting, in looking at the origins of the demon Pazuzu it offered an opportunity to tell a more complete story, Linda Blair reprising her role as Regan, who was now in a clinic being assessed for after effects of her possession ordeal, also gave an opportunity to delve into the psychological aspects of being demonically possessed, they missed a trick, or they at least airbrushed it,

One of the bigger problems in trying to tell the story was how it came across as a history lesson, particularly when detailing the relationship between Kokumo and Pazuzu, too much time was spent with the symbiocity between the two, and not on how the possession had affected Regan, I get that she would be subject to flashbacks, and that could have been shown more graphically, and when she was visited by Pazuzu, it could have given a prescence to the demon, Pazuzu took the form of a Locust, which brought famine and disease, and appeared in Regan's room when she revisited the house on prospect street, John Boorman was in a no win situation, he could make a near copy of the original, or make his own movie, which he did, unfortunately, the original was too hard an act to follow, and ultimately the movie got panned, and the audiences didn't show.

Like all epic, great movies. When the first one goes over the top & becomes larger than life. Hollywood bleeds it for all it's worth with a part two, part three, part four, etc … they tend to flop as they cannot stand up on their own merit. The first exorcist will always be my favorite. Nothing can ever surpass it though I must admit I do like Legion.

Actually I have never visited this site before. As I already mentioned I found it by chance & I am indeed new here. As for attacking this other person you have mentioned it's a pipe dream on your part. Another person here started a topic asking if others believed in demons. In turn I responded with my thoughts on the matter & this other person that post almost as much as you do for whatever reason? Maybe he felt it was his divine cyber right decided to go off the rails on me & then you chose to chime in so it's of your own doing meaning the two of you. Not me. If your more than willing to sling it out keep in mind it's not a good idea to throw waste into a strong wind as it more than likely will fly back in your face. I really do not care who you are & your cyber posting partner is here on the site as your nobody to me. I just happen to think due to the massive amounts of post you both have posted here on this particular site you have issues of wanting attention maybe posting on such a site fills the void of basic, general social skills you lack in the real world. Who knows? Anyway if you do not like what I have to post then it's very simple actually. Just don't reply. Unlike you I do not feel it's my divine right to come down on others here that post on the site & then attempt to twist things around once I've been called out. I'm just a fan of the exorcist. It's that simple. So that being said the matter has now been closed & there's nothing more to say. At least on my part. If you happen to answer which I think you will it will just prove my point & that point is you enjoy conflicts & having a soap box to preach & whine upon. You have been called out.

granville, I do believe we have been slapped upon the wrist once again by the newbie. Tsk, tsk.

A postscript to Santanas: When joining a new website, you want to make friends first. Then you can be ridiculously insulting to the other members.

Not having enough Mommy attention as a child has impacted your mind.

Heretic is not actually a bad movie. I've seen far worse. It's just not a movie that stands up to the first one. Heretic kind of goes off in many different directions all at once.

I have read the exchange between Satanas and Father B, whilst I have not been on this site for long, and may bring myself into conflict for my comments, I think this is a futile argument, I assume all the members of this site are here because we share a common interest, “The Exorcist” the book, the movie and all things connected, it is wasted energy arguing about something which really has no merit, and conceivably no outcome, as one will ultimately want to out insult the other, or at least have the last word, which in turn leads to a non closure of the argument, the only outcome is to agree to disagree and move on, the shame of this is that both of you are good contributors, and have added some worthwhile comments and views, we cannot like everyone we encounter, and so apply tolerance when dealing with such people, and in that respect we reach a mutual impasse, where we remain cordial despite our differences, I don't mind the odd slanging match, it creates passionate debate, other than that it's pointless.
