Nice spotting, Sofa. I never even noticed that first picture is set in Chris' room. It makes sense now.

ParticipantYes, it is, Ju!
Fatherb – “This is probably the “aha” you were referring to because it's definitely in Chris's bedroom and this probably explains that is actually the scene from the study where Rags complains of funny noises. Right?”
Yeeees! it's the original scene that follows Chris & Regan's conversation about Burke Dennings.
Â
Excerpt from Novel and the pictures that relate to it:
Back to the study. The script. Chris read. Halfway through, she saw Regan coming toward her.
“Hi, honey. What's wrong?”
“There's these real funny noises, Mom.”
“In your room?”
“It's like knocking. I can't go to sleep.”
Where the hell are those traps!
“Honey, sleep in my bedroom and I'll see what it is.”
Chris led her to the bedroom and tucked her in.
“Can I watch TV for a while 'til I sleep?”
“Where's your book?”
“I can't find it. Can I watch?”
“Sure; okay.” Chris tuned in a channel on the bedroom portable. “Loud enough?”
“Yes, Mom.”
“Try to sleep.”
Chris turned out the light and went down the hall. She climbed the narrow, carpeted stairs that led to the attic…”

ParticipantOh, and Fatherb, thank you for the pm! I read it but it won't let me answer to it! Says, 'Error' when I click 'reply'!
Spring break ended about two weeks ago loL!Â

ParticipantWell, I'm glad you go the PM, Sof. Blah that spring break is over!
Anyway, I started looking more closely at the photos (particularly the ones in the links you provided). I see that the “pillow” should be the striped bed lines. However, the clue is that it is not a “pillow,” but rather Regans robe lying over the pillow!
See the new pics you provided and link them with the old ones.
~The 1st pic above shows Regan in a pink nightgown with a flowery robe.
~The 2nd pic above has the contrast adjusted and does not show the bed linens as well as your linked pic, but they striped.
~The 3rd pic is just another angle taken with Regan's flowery robe thrown on the pillow and looks like the bed linens. NOT!
Okay, next mystery! Good job, Sof!

ParticipantAha, not yet! Those patterns and colours do not quite match:
It looks more like this gown she is wearing during the spiderwalk (if you blur it):
Only THE EXORCIST could have you analyzing fabrics.

ParticipantLate to the game here…sorry. 🙂
Â
In regards to one of the first bloopers, whoops, and such…the one where Kinderman asks for a pen, and there's a bunch in front of him….I think that was deliberate.
Â
Remember, he's laying on the schmaltz here. :) (Something Karras easily detected on him, in the novelization.) He's doing the Columbo thing. Acting simple and unassuming, to get under folks' skin (in a nice way) so that they can more easily relate to him, and perhaps in the process be more open to answering his questions. 🙂
Â
Chris seemed more of an easy mark for this than Karras…so Kinderman laid it on, right up to the point where he leaves, asking for the autograph. (Besides, you can see the grim, rather intimidating look on his face when he returns to the household as Karras is about to die….the look that says: “You ain't been entirely straight with me, lady….'specially after I was soooo nice.”) 🙂

AHA! That's not the same pic, Justin. You included the spiderwalk and even if blurred, it's not the same pale non-patterned pink in Sof's pictures. Now your first pic is much better in color than what we've so far. I can see a patterned robe like the one on the bed and I can see the pink nightgown underneath. Actually, I think you answered better through another AHA moment … you talented little artist!

Steve, that's a good characterization of Kinderman and I like it. However, the pen question actually came from Chris. I believe what I was pointing out is that Burstyn is a great actress who familiarizes herself with the sets she working on, and looks over at the pot of pens/pencils at the time she asks. There's really nothing intentional about the question … just worked out that way.
